Center of the Universe?

I barely made it to the Bethany Community shuttle this morning because the guy who was driving this week was actually punctual. They also got into the van at the crack of noon after the service, so I hadn't gotten out of my Sunday school class yet. (5th grade this week) As we were turning onto the Fremont bridge, I noticed something I hadn't seen before. There's a sign next to the bridge proclaiming, "Welcome to Fremont: Center of the Universe." Oh what a town I live in . . . ;)

Speaking of which, driving home from church, we stopped at Seattle University first instead of SPU first, so I got to see a different view of Seattle than I normally do. As we were crossing over Lake Washington, we were presented with a picturesque view of the Seattle skyline. The Space Needle was dead center and Gasworks Park was a bright emerald, green. There were sailing ships everywhere, and a sea plane was just flying over. Quite pretty, actually, in spite of the clouds being gray. But something felt . . . off. This is why I distrust cities, I think. They look beautiful and inviting from far away, but once you get close, the filth is evident. I was raised in a town that doesn't look beautiful in any sense of the word. Surrounded by crusty, brown hills, full of graffiti and garbage, you'll find the real beauty is in the people. But, I'm learning that even Seattle has some beautiful people. Andy and I went to Pike Place Market the other day and there was a wonderful, chatty gentleman there who reminded me a little of my father. He reads his newspapers and drinks his coffee by the waterfront every day. And he complimented my college, so that didn't hurt him in my opinion. ;)

Andy and I had a good time at Pike Place Market. There weren't many flower shops, and those are usually my favorite part, so that was disappoinitng, but it was okay, 'cause Andy bought me tulips. ;) And I only got a little lost walking from my bus stop to the market. :D (My sense of direction is useless without sun. Thus, I am no good indoors or in Seattle.)

The final good news is that I'm over and done with being sick. No more germy-ness! Hurray!

Dreyer's Ice Cream Heals All Wounds

You know why I was feeling congested yesterday even after I was done with the whole allergy attack thing? I got a head cold. I was sniffly and running all day yesterday. Today has been better as far as the sniffles go, but I carried around a box of tissues anyway. :) My biology test seemed fine, but that could just be the delusion of a stuffed-up head. (It feels like it's full of cotton and my ears are plugged. Hooray for roaming colds!) So, to make myself feel better, I splurged and bought four dollars worth of Dreyer's ice cream at the C-Store. It tastes soooo good! I haven't had ice cream in forever . . . this school seriously needs to remedy it's lack of ice creaminess. I think we should go for a more WSU approach and get our own ice-creamery! Heck, we already have our own brand of Starbucks, why not Coldstone? ;)

Tonight is go to bed early and maybe watch a silly movie night. We watched a very sad, but symbolic video today in my UCOR class. It's the first of a "Decalogue" of movies loosely based on the ten commandments. For those of you who might not be able to recall at the moment, the first commandment is "You shouldn't have any other God but Me." So, the film involved a father and son on their own in Poland. The father was raised Catholic, but no longer holds those believes. He is a college professor who relies on his calculations and his computer. His small boy is learning to love computers as well and is very precious in general. The father has one calculation on his computer to tell him, depending on the temperatures for the last few days, whether or not the ice on their lake is thick enough to skate on. So one day, he gives the go-ahead for his little boy, because the computer calculation says it's safe. Suffice it to say, the ice broke, the boy died, and the father crumbled when his "god" failed him. What a way to start the day, aye?

Hopefully I'll be all better by the morning so I'll have a mucus-free weekend! ;) My parents will be visiting me next week, so I should probably start cleaning my half of the room now in order to have it done by then. ;) Heh. Just kidding. Sort of . . .

My First Allergy

Well, it's official. I've developed an allergy to perfume. The two times I wore perfume this month both saw me spending the day with itchy eyes, a runny nose, and a scratchy throat. Both times I wondered if I was simply getting sick, but this time I was sure to observe my symptoms more carefully. A few minutes after putting on perfume this morning, the symptoms I mentioned started. They lasted all day. They ceased, leaving me with a stuffed-up nose, a few minutes after I changed out of the perfume-y clothes and into my pajamas. I'm so disappointed. I still like perfume . . . but there's probably just one little fragrance in common between my two perfumes that makes me allergic to them both. (I wore one perfume the first time around and the other the second time around.)

Today is definitely a laundry/buy tickets for the school play A Man For All Seasons which I am required to attend/work in the library quite a bit/study for my biology test on Friday/get rid of this freakin' clogged-up nose day. I have a lot I need to get done.

I played Literati (Scrabble, just named differently so they won't get sued.) with Steve and Moog last night. It was really fun. :) I kicked butt. ;) But it's true that Moog and Steve were both dealt kind of rough hands full of lots of vowells. I hope we can play again sometime. The only thing I regret is having to get Yahoo! Instant Messenger. It's not the messenger itself that bugs me but the butload of crap that Yahoo! installs on your computer when you install the messenger. It's all deleted/uninstalled now, but that doesn't mean I still can't be annoyed with Yahoo!. ;) At least they make the junk they install for you easy to uninstall . . . there were no excessive repetitions of "are you sure you want to delete this item?" and the like.

I have work at 10:25. I'ma go get ready for the day. :)

Only the Freakiest Dream Ever . . .

I had the freakiest dream I have ever had last night. Nobody died or anything, but it involved bugs and just a little too much detail for me to handle. I woke up just slightly disturbed. However, I'm doing much better after a day of warmth and a little sunshine. Plus, the scarf my mom finished for me when I got finished arrived today. Couldn't have had better timing, Mom! It's beautiful! :) Thank you so much!

My UCOR class today was SOOOOO boring! My professor is nice enough I suppose, but he comes off as more than a little arrogant. He's so focused on using big words that sometimes he doesn't even bother with making sentences! It's just a string of the longest words he can try to pop out . . . Geh. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm already turning into a full-blooded biology major and have lost my patience with any class not science-related. Hopefully not as I still have a few years of general ed requirements to fill . . . ;)

Moog's already to her second post! I'm so proud! :) And Dan did well on his blog entry today too. He actually suceeded in writing a post that one has to scroll down to view! Hooray Daniel, for making this step in your bloghood! :D

That's all for now, folks. I'ma go to bed early tonight and hopefully get through the night terror free. ;)

Welcome Our Newest Member

It's five-thirty, I still haven't finished my chemistry homework, I had Easy Mac for dinner, the rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain, and I'm blogging! How crazy am I??? Well, I'm just crazy enough to want to let everybody know that my wonderful friend Margaret has decided to sacrifice her objections to blogging in order to keep in touch better with her friends! How sweet is that? :) I love that chica . . . Everybody welcome her to the blogging community, and be gentle with your teasing. We're lucky to finally have her with us. :)

Today, I finally turned in my paperwork for working at Bethany Community, and worked in the nursery, uh . . . today. I'm pretty sure that's illegal without them turning in the background check form first, but whatever. ;) I was in pre-K with a bunch of sweet kids. It was nice to be around children again, and I was so excited about it that I was hyper for most of the rest of the afternoon. :D

Melissa from 3rd Moyer has written a song about Gwinn cafeteria that she calls "One Snickerdoodle." It's hilarious! They recorded the guitar, violin, and vocals separately and then dubbed them together using Cameron's sound software. It's a great song, and I'll have to get it on my laptop so I can bring it home to show everyone. :)

I think I purposely hide myself in my dorm on Sundays because of the new event in Moyer Hall, spankin' Sundays. I have yet to be spanked OR tackled. Random Tackle Friday has been defeated! No one can take down BonnieFierce! (random nickname) And not for lack of trying either. ;) Thank you Adam for wrestling training.

Monday, Monday why must you come? The third week of school always seems like one of the hardest for me. You're realizing that you actually have to keep up with things and work hard. Bleah. I'm so lazy. ;)

Feminists are just slightly scary

Tonight, I was shelving journals downstairs at the library, (I was subbing for Pat, this isn't one of my normal shifts.) when I came across a remarkable set of volumes. About thirty or so journal editions all in slightly varying shades of pink. Some were so close in shade and color that I could barely tell them apart. Then I noticed the title of this journal. The Feminist Family. O_O One can only wonder if this range of colors was purposeful, done in order to confuse poor males who think pink is pink is pink. It was quite amsuing, actually. :)

The bonfire that Moyer Hall was going to go on tonight was cancelled because of "inclement weather." Frankly, it stopped raining over an hour ago, and hall council never seemed very enthusiastic about the whole idea. They're supposedly rescheduling. I was looking forward to it for tonight though . . . :-
My weekend is going by fast, especially since Stephanie lent me a book that I've been reading. :) Books always make time move very quickly for me. I've been known to read for whole days straight without remembering to stop to eat or use the bathroom. I guess you could say I become engrossed . . .

That's all for today, folks.

Lance Armstrong Bracelets?

Heh. Of all the randomness . . .

I was just talking to Sandra in my room (She wanted to see if I wanted to apply to be an S.M.C next year (Student Ministries Coordinator. Something I hadn't thought about before, but definitely something I'm going to pray about for future years.) when the phone rang. Sandra picked it up and handed it to me, and it was my brother! He was on a random road trip (that he hadn't bothered to tell our parents about before embarking. I believe they received a phone from somewhere in the North Bend area.) Anyway, Adam and his friend Raven had decided to go to North Bend for Lance Armstrong bracelets. Crazy kids . . . Anyway, Adam called me up to tell me that he was at the front door to my school! Of all the silly, wonderful things. :) It was great to see my little bro. They left after I gave them directions for getting back to Yakima. What a kid . . .

I watched a movie with Stephanie earlier tonight, and I am now reading a book she has loaned me. One quick note about the movie we watched (Robin Hood Prince of Thieves), the actress who played Maid Marian also played the mean, spinsterly school teacher in Anne of Avonlea! I couldn't believe it! So weird . . . O_o

Anyways, that's all I'll be posting today. I have some library sub workt tomorrow, and chemistry homework to finish, but it'll probably be a quiet weekend.

Dissection Done

To everyone's relief, the dissection today went better than I had feared. We didn't get into the internal stuff much, and I was alright as long as I repeated a mantra that involved convincing myself that this was not some poor, dead animal, but just a grouping of tissues. Skin, muscle, bone. I still had to shut my eyes and take a few deep breaths every once in awhile . . . but I did okay. Our class will get to the organs later. I'm still kinda worried about those but I didn't faint or puke today and I was actually of some assistance in the dissection, so I think I may have overcome the Schilperoort stigmatism. ;) Thanks for all the prayer guys, I really appreciate it.

You know what's absolutely awesome? Dipping a cherry tomato in ketchup! My friend Natalie did that at lunch today. :) I thought it was hilarious.

Tonight, my shift at the library involved a little kookiness. My supervisor, Shelley, recently acquired a game of Tiddly Winks so for a while, we sat back behind the shelves hidden from customers and just had fun shooting Tiddly Winks everywhere and eating gummy dinosaurs. :) Every once in a while one of us would get up to help a customer who rang the bell at the front desk, but it was great stress relief after the dissection day was done. ;)

I also have a part in a going-away play for a guy who worked at the library. I'm a Price Is Right contestant. :) I don't really do much except act crazy. No lines. Sounds good, huh? ;) I only bid twice, and at this point I plan to have to bids of "A" and "-2"

Prize for Most Creative Lunch

Today, I have only two things to report. Things that I think are cool. Oh, and I have to tell my parents that I found my calculator. :D

There was sunshine today, and a high that reached sixty. This, of course, caused me to go stir crazy and I spent every moment I was outside today in a Singin' in the (not) Rain hop-and-skip manner. :D It was very exciting.

The other exciting thing today was my lunch. I know I talk about this a lot, but I can't help it. Today's lunch struck me as probably the strangest lunch I have ever had. Not that it wasn't good . . . ;)

All the lines in the cafeteria were hugely bigly long, (heh, I don't think I've ever written down that sentence, just said it.) so I ended up at the cold bar. The cold bar is, quite obviously, a selection of chilled foods. There was quite a choice today. Usually there's only a few salads that look a little strange and some ethnic food that you don't feel brave enough to risk. The selection this afternoon included chicken strips, cold but still good, croissants, boiled eggs, olives, and several other less cool things. I had all of the things I mentioned, plus a piece of berry pie, some cantaloupe, and a glass of milk. A very random, very awesome lunch. I enjoyed the strangeness of it. :D If anyone else has strange meal stories, feel free to share in comments. ;)

Sad Days

You know what's interesting? When you go to work and your boss doesn't show up 'til three. :D Heh. It actually wasn't that bad. I waited until 1:30 and then Shelley said she'd give me some hours for the library. So I went around and faced books for an hour-and-a-half which wasn't all that bad since it appealed to my semi-perfectionist mind set. ;) (For those not acquainted with library lingo, facing books is moving them around so that their spines line up with the edge of the shelf. Makes 'em look pretty. :D) My supervisor Mark was late today because he forgot that today was Tuesday and not Monday. On Monday I start work at three, but on Tuesday's it's one to five, all the way. Anyway, I laughed at Mark a lot and made him feel guilty, but it's all good now. :)

Today, I am sadly once again umbrella-less. But I didn't lose this one! This time my umbrella broke. Yup. My umbrella broke on the rainiest day we've had all year. Murphy's Law, I suppose. Anyway, I think the umbrella was a slightly cooky design from the start. If you just pushed the button on the handle and let it fly open on it's own, the string that kept the umbrella shaft from overexentending just popped out, which left no tension to pull out the actual umbrella frame itself, so you ended up with more of an umbrella club than anything else. So, in order to open the umbrella, you had to press the button while holding on to the top of the umbrella so it wouldn't open too quickly. Also, not only was this umbrella testy about being opened, it was testy about being closed. I would have to push as hard as I could on it to get it to lock into place. All these things kind of indicated that this umbrella wouldn't be having a very long lifespan . . . So, I opened my umbrella as I left my dorm, being careful to hold the end so the string wouldn't pop out, I think one of the tines hit my arms as it expanded. The umbrella tines were made of very thin metal (Not a smart design feature. They're usually metal cylinders, a much stronger geometric shape than a trough-type shape.) so it bent. This meant that one side of the umbrella wasn't opened correctly. So, I reached up and unbent the tine, and it snapped. Right in two. Hooray. So I got just a wee bit drenched this afternoon. I think I'm going to try at Unicom (lost and found) one final time tomorrow to see if anyone ever turned in my old umbrella. It's not very likely, because it didn't have my name on it, and it was a nice umbrella that many would feel inclined to keep as their own. :\ And don't feel bad parents that the umbrella you got me broke. I think it was just a faulty design.

My classes are going well so far. Lab tonight was fun. My lab partner in chemistry is named Karen. She was in my biology lab last quarter and she's great. :) My first dissection in biology lab is this Thursday. Crap. :( It's the first fetal pig lab. I just know I'm going to pass out . . . If anyone has helpful advice on keeping my brain from freaking out during this dissection, it would be very welcome.

Rain and More Rain

Yuck. It's been raining since I woke up this morning. What a Monday. Fortunately, I have no school!!!! ;) Today, I did my chemistry homework, but nothing else school or work oriented. Muahaha!

Also, if you direct your attention to the right side of the page, you will see that I have added two links for our newest editions to the blogging family! Congratulations Sally and Dan! Oh, and if anyone feels like randomly experimenting, I'll try to comment and put up the code line that you insert into your template. It's up to you to figure out where in your particular template it belongs. ;) I can't seem to figure out a way to keep it from going straight to HTML when I put it in a post . . . I tried putting spaces between everything, but the computer wasn't fooled. Drat it all . . .

You know what I miss about being around people like my dad or Margaret? When I asked random questions, they might actually make a stab at the answer, using a perfectly logical explanation of course. I miss that. I miss the reasoning. The scientific arguements. When I ask Laura a random question like that, she just looks at me and says, "Bonnie, it's me you're talking to here!" Funny of course, but I still miss the random, sometimes correct answers I used to receive. ;)

I just got back from a trip to Fred Meyer. Hallelujah, I have Easy Mac! :D That stuff is great. Except that it overflows in the microwave . . . Oh well.

I have a chemistry lab tomorrow. I need to do my pre-lab. Meh, I'll do it tomorrow morning. I'm feeling tired tonight. :) I think the rain saps my energy. I'm almost convinced that I'm actually a mutant with super strength, but I'm sadly allergic to water. This means that I am allergic to myself. But, were I not allergic to water. The super powers would totally be there. As it is my super strength is all that allows me to live with this allergy to water. I think this is the reason why I hate rain. (Told ya I missed those random explanations . . . ) ;)

I'll post when I have something worthwhile to say! (Could be a while.) ;)

The Adventures of Bonnilia!

Welcome to adventures in . . .

The library rounds! (skip this entire section unless you are in your strangest possible mood, preferably fueled by sugar.)

One day, Bonnie was shelf-reading up on the third floor of the library. Shelf-reading is very boring. It involves reading the call numbers of books on the shelf to see if they are in correct order according to the Library of Congress system (if you didn't already know). So Bonnie was definitely open to anything amusing. Also if you didn't already know, Bonnie is a girl in possession of a very strange mind. She's been known to perform visual exercises in the form of the manipulation of 3D shapes in order to get to sleep.

Anyway, Bonnie was shelf-reading along when she came to an interesting set of books. They were large, blue books in a series titled "The Annual Biochemistry Review." Well, books in a series are even easier to check for correct order than regular books because the only you have to check is if the volume numbers are sequential. So Bonnie is scanning the numbers when she comes to the year 1985. 1985 is a very important year to Bonnie, for obvious reasons. Bonnie also notices that the "Annual Biochemistry Review" for 1985 seems larger than all those around it. "Yes!" thought Bonnie, "There was more biochemistry to review in the year I was born than in any other! Score!"

Very pleased with herself, Bonnie continued to shelf read through the volumes, when suddenly, she came to a fateful year. 1992. This edition seemed very large as well. Quickly, her eyes glanced back at the edition from 1985, scoping, measuring. She flickered in indecision for a moment, and then opened up the review from 1992. It stuck while being pulled out, and creaked and groaned while being opened to such a degree that Bonnie suspected that they had never been read, let alone removed from the shelf. She leafed to the back of the book. 2,129 pages. Hurriedly, she replaced the book and moved her hand to select the volume from 1985. They appeared the same size from the outside, but what would a closer inspection reveal? Trembling a little, she flipped the pages back. 1500, 1600, 1700 . . . the last page was number 1,834 . . . a paltry 300 pages behind the 1992 edition. Crestfallen, Bonnie replaced the book and continued with her shelf-reading, knowing that the "Annual Biochemistry Review" for her year of birth was not the largest there had ever been.

And this is how Bonnie amuses herself on slow nights in the library. I apologize for using third person. ;)

Now, it's time for . . .

Adventures in Technology Services!!!! (Some of you might actually find it interesting to know what I've been up to lately in this area. Some of you.) ;)

Today, I learned how to set a computer to auto-logon, what the name of the library server is, and how to reach it through remote access from anywhere, and several other tidbits that are very cool. :) Mark (my boss) was just a teensy bit late today (45 minutes. He left a note.) so I spent some time reading frome the Windows XP test preparation book. All in all, it was a good day for learning at my new job. Mark says I'm a fast learner, and I hope I'll be able to be a good helper. Sidekick jobs are fun!

And finally, it's time for Bonnie's normal adventures! (That still seemed to need an exclamation point for whatever reason.)

I got the package of my missing stuff today! Hooray!!!! My mommy also sent me some craisins and popcorn, both of which I love. :D Three-day weekend!!!!! I will definitely do my best to enjoy this weekend to the fullest. I think I broke my brain circuits writing that silly story, as I can't think of anything else that's going on. Hmm . . . Oh yeah. My biology teacher Dr. Bishop brought a ball python into class today. Not to point out anything in particular or illustrate some topic, she just lectured with the snake draped over her arm the whole time. How cool is that? :) Also, I aced my biology quiz today because it was easy. The end.

D. Because I have yet to start a blog title with D.

It's true. Windows XP is really big on saving usernames and passwords and filling them in once you start typing, so it's done the same thing with my blog titles. Every single blog title I've ever had is popped up as a possible choice when I begin to type a title. :) So today's title starts with a "d" because there were a sad lack of "d's" in the list. Yee hee! XD

I didn't have to work at my tech job tonight because my boss is sick. Bronchitis. :\ So, I'll probably be working again with Mark on Friday or Monday.

I am in a slightly crazy mood at the moment, possibly because I spent long periods of time chatting with Moog or possibly because I had a very tasty dinner tonight. I chose the seafood linguine with a spinach salad and a lemon dessert. It was extremely yummy! Gwinn is doing a much better job on the food so far this quarter.

On the way back from dinner, some guys were walking in front of us. They were going into Moyer, so we let them in. Stephanie knew them, so as she was unlocking the door to first, she asked, quite innocently, "What's on first?" I heard this, and immediately replied in a corrective manner, "No, Who's on first!" and Laura finished it out with a slap-bang, "What's on second!" :D Hahahahaha hee hee hee! So we spilled onto our floor laughing like maniacs, much to everyone's . . . expectations. ;) What can I say? We're madwomen living in a nuthouse. ;)

Alias has a new episode showing again tonight, but I am still not certain whether I will go to Group or watch it now because I have to get my CFE (Christian Faith Exploration) hours in. :\ The dilema is mind-boggling. Group is an awesome time of worship, so I'm going to have to skip at least a few episodes of Alias. Why, oh why did they have to have Alias on Wednesdays!?!

Well, I look forward to getting my stuff from home soon. I'm sure that was a very expensive package with all my junk in it. :\ Hairdryer included . . . So thanks Mom for putting all that work into packing it and shelling out the moolah to send it. ;) I need to call you guys sometime this week. I miss my family. ~Sniff, sniff~

Work Load

Well, I had my first day of my new tech job today. Heh. Was I ever lost. :) I was only useful at burning CDs. Matt claims that I'll get the hang of it by the end of the month, but we'll see.

Other than that, I am now officially working 15 hours and 50 minutes a week. I am bound and determined to make all of my work study money for this quarter. I may not have much time for the blog, online chatting, or anything resembling a social life. ;) Just kidding. I'm sure I'll be fine.

I'm finding my classes are getting off to a slow start. Hopefully, they stay that way. ;) Heh. I'm not really serious. Although a smaller workload would be nice. But I'd actually prefer being interested in my classes. I think Dr. Phelan will do a good job at teaching chemistry, and Dr. Bishop will do a good job with biology, once we get out of the more general. I'm still not sure about my UCOR teacher.

Well, I'ma head out. I have some reading to do tomorrow before I have work at one.

As Bad as Bethany ;)

Man, I was as bad as Bethany today. ;) I was in biology class, and we weren't even talking about anything even slightly gross, just tissues, and organs, and organ systems, and my neck was doing that thing where the left side of it feels strangely tight so that I have to hug my shoulder to it. (This is a sure sign of me being grossed out, that I am rubbing the left side of my neck.) I'm such a sissy . . . Anyway, if I'm doing this badly in the class, it does not bode very well for the lab. :-\ But, I have decided that from now on, I'm going to think about my lab as little as possilbe outside of doing the pre-lab and the actual event itself. I'll be stressed enough handling just that, no need to worry about it beforehand, right? ;)

As good news, I finally found my ID card!!!! Yay, food!!!! (Don't worry parents, I have been eating while my card was missing, just not in as balanced a manner as I could have been.) But now, I have it! It got stuck inside one of my notebooks so that I couldn't find it even when I had emptied my book bag. So, right after I found it, I went straight to the C-Store and bought all sorts of unhealthy junk for snacks. :D Yay snacks! Ooh! And I also bought a pear, but I'll have to wait a couple days for it to ripen. Mmm . . . pears . . .

And as it's also a weekend, that makes everything quite awesome except for the fact that it snowed eight inches in Yakima while I wasn't there. Waaaah! :'( Not fair! I want eight inches of snow!!!!! Well, at least maybe I'll get to go see Phantom of the Opera tonight. ;)

Krayfish is totally a valid spelling . . . phonetically.

My lab periods are actually two hours and fifty minutes each, thank you very much. ;) And they go a lot faster than you'd think they would. Oh, and my spring break is from the 17th to the 28th, which means I have part of the third-to-last week of March off, all of the second-to-last week off, and Monday in the last week off. Hooray for Spring Break! And once again, the break is in between quarters, which means I will have no homework over the break. :D So today is Wednesday. I have now officially attended all of my class periods (if not my labs). They will each be a unique experience, that's for sure. :)

My first class, UCOR 1000, is basically an art appreciation class with a little bit of "how it affects the Christian community" thrown in there. My professor is a moderately crazy man with a New York attitude. We are to call him only "Mr. Wolfe" as he does not have a Ph.D. He is funny and intelligent, but I believe he may be a little too liberal for me in more than one way. ;) We'll see how the class turns out.

My second class, Chem 1212, is going to be much better than my first quarter. They've streamlined and organized the lab period so that things are much more clear. Whew! Also, our teacher "Greg" as Dr. Phelan wishes to be called, is a great guy with a gentle manner, a great sense of humor, and a fair class expectation (not to mention two Ph.D's in chem and uh . . . I don't remember what the other one's in, a master's in education, and . . . well, he has enough to degrees to fill up one hand, that's all I remember. He attended a military academy, so that may count for one of them, but I don't have the slightest inkling as to the last.)

My third and final class, Bio 2102, is going to be a great class, and an interesting lab section. Dr. Bishop is a great lady who tells cheesy jokes and wears a hairstyle from the seventies and glasses that are too big for her face. :) However, already today I have learned that box turtles are not actually turtles, but terrapins, and that bears do not actually hibernate as we have all been taught since kindergarten. ;) Knowing this type of thing makes me happy. It is the lab period that will not make me happy. We are planning at this point to dissect a fetal pig for three weeks in a row. Hooray . . . :( We will also be dissecting a crayfish, a starfish, and I believe a sponge. Geh . . . Those three labs with the fetal pig are going to be tough. :-\ Fortunately, I have Stephanie as my lab partner, who is a very nice girl who will let me just sit by while she does all the cutting. Three cheers for Stephanie! (You guys go ahead and give her only three, I'm gonna sit over here and give her about three million) ;)

I lost my I.D. card sometime this morning. I'm going to head down to Bertona again today to check for it there. I believe I lost it in that classroom, but there was a class in there when I went to check for it earlier. So, today I had chicken noodle soup for lunch which was probably nicer than whatever they were serving in the cafeteria anyway. :)

And finally, my left thigh is yowling and growling at me today. I am not exactly sure why, but I think it may have something to do with the crutch vaulting I was doing yesterday in the hallway while Ann our P.A. was sitting down and did not need them. Darn leg . . .

Biology Lab

Alright! I'm back in school, so I'm back in the blogging game! Deal me a full hand! Stick a fork in me, I'm done! Er, ready, I suppose . . . Put me in, coach! Hmm . . . I wonder who my blogging coach would be . . . ? Laura I suppose. She started me on it and helped me with my template junk/stuff. :) Yup. Definitely Laura.

I'm not sure how to feel about going back to school . . . I am currently an odd mix of excitement and reluctance. I'm especially not sure how to feel about my biology lab for this quarter . . . 2102 is on organ systems . . . I think you all know what that means lab will be, actually, scratch that. I know exactly how I feel about the lab . . . :/ Everyone pray for Bonnie from 2:00 to 4:50. Pray that she will keep her cookies in her stomach where they belong and not on the floor . . .

Work will also be mixed in there somewheres. I'm not sure exactly where yet, but my first day at the new job will be on January 10th at 3:00pm. Wish me luck at being a techy! ;) Heh. And man do I show promise . . . Laura got a DVD drive for Christmas, and I was going to help her install it, but I took one look at the instructions, saw that one actually has to open up the tower and muck around with the innards, and decided her computer would be better off without suddenly gaining the ability to smoke and spark in pretty colors after I was finished with it. ;) We'll just have to wait for her brother to get here.

Balancing the check book is on the list for tomorrow. As well as contacting my family with the large list of things I forgot. :/ I certainly hope Bethany and Shay are planning on a visit, because not only did I forget my favorite teddy bear, (Travesty!) I also forgot the house plants I was . . . house plant sitting. Oops. Sorry Michelle.

I don't actually start class until Wednesday because the first lab of any science class is always a safety seminar and they told us last quarter that if we've already been to one this year, we don't have to go again. :D I certainly hope they did not lie to us. Going through that presentation for the third time would not be fun. I mean, Beaker is cute, but he's not that cute . . . especially as a tiny finger puppet stuffed in, what else? A beaker. ;)

Okay, I believe this post is long and boring enough to satisfy even the most demanding of commenters! Do your worst! (Ooooh . . . Count of Monte Cristo . . . that's a good movie. :) Kinda weird book though . . . marries his young servant . . . geh . . . what is up with that?)
