I lied

Okay, so I lied. I'm going to post again. . . . Today. ;) I thought my last entry was a little bit . . . blah, so we'll make this one more fun. I usually include some sort of visual imagery in my blogs, and as I was driving around Yakima (doing that shopping I was talking about earlier) when I started waxing poetic. Or at least waxing thoughtful. :) Low clouds have been hanging around Yakima recently (As I discovered on my way to pick Andy up. Hooray for a five-foot visibility radius!) and today was no different. Except, with Yakima being in a valley, when low clouds roll in, it's like a cap has been put on the sky. There's no blue sky visible anywhere (unusual) and the tops of the hills are hidden. It's slightly weird to look up and see a place where the sky seems to start. I'm used to it being pretty boundless here. That's one thing I love about summer skies. :) They look so open and cheerful.

I bought The Princess Bride for my family today. Well, we'll see if my mom likes it enough to buy it off me. ;) If not, I own another DVD!!! Hooray!!!! (If I were Steve the Beav, that sentence would end with something more along the lines of "!!!1!!!shiftone!!1!1!!!!" which I find enjoyable, in spite of the fact that he blocks my pandas on AIM. :-\ ~sigh!~

I still do not have all my shopping done . . . Yakima is seriously short on the shops. Maybe I'll have to go all the way to somewhere like . . . Selah, or something . . . ;)

See almost all of you guys on Sunday!

Christmas Post

This will probably be my last post before Christmas. I don't think we'll get around to having a Christmas party at my house this year. If you guys are all open to having one on Wednesday the 22nd, that would be great, but it's a bit short notice. :) I still hope to have a New Year's Eve party, but this would mean that I would have to call people and you know . . . plan. :-\

I have quite a bit of shopping left to do. Guess that means I should get going . . . I really don't feel like it . . . I'd much rather be making cookies. :) But if I stay home my dad will have me cleaning the house, so I'll be leaving soon, feel like it or not. ;)

I just checked my SPU e-mail the other day after a long absence and boy were there a lot of comments! I had thirty-five e-mails and about thirty-two of those were comment notifications. ;) I wonder how many e-mail notifications of comments Andy received every day during the height of comment season . . . ?Time for shopping!

My ride home was great. :) I don't think Molly and I ever stopped talking for more than thirty seconds straight. ;) It's also great being home. I was pretty lazy today and didn't get out of my pajamas until quite a late hour.

I am in the middle of a project at the moment. I am assembling a pine garland for above our mantle. It will look pretty. :) I don't know what it is, but I'm really feeling like I need to have everybody over for a Christmas-type party. If it snows out we could some outdoor-type activites and have hot chocolate, and as it sounds like quite a few of us will have gifts to exchange we could do that too. I'm also considering throwing a New Year's bash, but probably without confetti this time. ;) Give me some feedback on what you think folks! You're the ones who would be invited! Minus Steve, who will be in North Carolina having his own fun. :)

It's been nice to be home. It's also been nice to spend some time with my brother, who I almost beat down in pool except that I called the wrong pocket for the eight ball . . . koh! I hate guy rules . . . ;)

And as for the great shoe debate, I have about . . . six or seven pairs. Not a huge number, but way more than the average guy, I suppose. I think girls can go to an excess on shoes some of the time, but I think I may have managed to avoid that. :) And I am more than willing to part with them for long enough to chuck one at someone. They are often one of my most powerful and impromptu weapons. ;) There are few people among my friends who have not tasted the wrath of my shoes at one point or another.

In other news, I've been offered a job at, of all places, tech help in the library. Apparently all the other applicants were too introverted. Imagine that . . . ;) So we'll see what comes from that. It would be nice if I could get enough hours. The pay is a lot better than my current job in the library, and if they think I could do a good job at the type of thing, I'd do my best. :)

No school for almost a month!

Done with finals done with finals done with finals done with finals!!!!!!!!!!!!! And in case you didn't know, I'm done with finals!!!!! No more school for almost a month! :D I got a coffee afterwards to celebrate, in case you couldn't guess. ;)

I tracked down the stupidity on Tuesday. It's source was really me, as could have been expected. ;) I did not realize that pay checks were not mailed out, but rather picked up. So I went and got all my paychecks yesterday. :D

It has been raining for the last four days straight. Straight, I tell you. But today, something great happened. :) My room mate and I were sitting at our respective desks, when suddenly something unknown and unrecognized occured. The sun came out!!!! We were so shocked that we just sat there in the blaring light feeling like vampires! My room mate couldn't even see enough to close the blinds it was so blindingly bright! I am so looking forward to the sunshine of Yakima!

Something else funny happened today. When I opened my door, there were streamers hanging down in my face! The girls on birthday committee decided that today was close enough to my half birthday to celebrate. ;) I believe my approximate reaction to opening the door was, "What the . . .?" with a smile. :) I don't understand why they chose that celebrating my half birthday right before Christmas break was better than celebrating my real birthday before summer break, but I'm not complaining! I got candy! :D

It is also good that the rain has stopped because I have lost my umbrella. :( And it was a nice umbrella too . . . which is probably why I can't find it. ;) I know I left it in my USEM on Monday, but it hasn't been turned into UNICOM (the lost and found) so someone has apparently decided to keep it. And that was my only rain protection too . . . ~sigh!~ How sad. I feel very vulnerable to Seattle's most deadly weapon without my shield of awesomeness . . . Heh. I'm so overdramatic. ;) I'm sure it'll turn up.

And now it's time for something that has been long overdue! An important announcement! Ahem! A new blog has been started! After the phenonmenon started on Andy's blog, (I believe the count is now at . . . 74 comments?) a blog entirely for commenting purposes has been created! go to www.commentcentral.blogspot.com and join in on the fun!

Joyful AND Triumphant

Ha HA! I have a ride home with Molly Smith! I'm done with the not-so-nice chem lab! I found out that I only have two finals on Tuesday, not three! I am feeling so ready for Christmas break I could burst!

Today, I have a mission. A mission to crack down on stupidity. Not only am I going after my own stupidity (studying for finals) but I'm also going to come down on the lovely people at Student Financial Services. It has come to my attention that I have not been receiving pay slips. As I would assume it is a general practice to let employees know when you're paying them, the natural conclusion would be that I have not been getting paid . . . Interesting.

I am going to give everyone a link now. It is a great link. It is a link to a game. It is a great game. It is called Fishy. Go! Devour the fishes! http://www.2flashgames.com/f/f-172.htm

Perhaps I am blonde?

I am seriously such a ditz . . . ;) I do not have labs next week. I don't know what I was thinking. I will be done with class by Tuesday. That is great. I have four days of class left, and probably seven days until I go home. I've re-notified everyone I originally sent an e-mail to, and hopefully I'll be able to find a ride home.

I am also a ditz because I accidentally mislabeled part of my PowerPoint presentation. I am not sure if the class noticed, as they're engineering majors, but I put "atoms" when I meant "molecules"!! How embarrassing! What am I, in third grade science??? We'll see if my USEM professor noticed. ;)

Heh. I just deleted a whole paragraph on Easy Mac, in case you were wondering. ;) All too often I find myself rambling for no good reason about no good topic. I know there's something better than Easy Mac to talk about . . .

Oh yeah! I'm going to have a couple more hours in the library next quarter so it will be easier to earn my work study money. :) Still not a large number of hours, but enough to be able to earn it all and still get school work done.

And everyone needs to comment and/or e-mail depending on your desire for privacy/urgency and give me their Christmas lists. Now. 'Cause I'm goin' shoppin' when I get home! :D Whoever doesn't give me your Christmas list will be receiving all the Acetyl CoA from pyruvate that they can process! Hooray for glycolysis and the Krebs cycle! I've got finals on the brain, if you couldn't tell. ;)

And finally, everyone pray for Evening in December! My daddy's in it again this year (I'm so sad that I won't be able to come to a performace! :(), and the dress rehearsal is on Thursday. Pray that lines will be remembered, cues will be hit, and most importantly, that people's lives will be touched!

Experiencing Difficulties

Finding a ride home could be difficult. At first, I was excited, because my finals are done by the eigth and I thought I'd be able to go home early. But, my dreams crashed into the abyss in a fiery burning ball of realization when I remembered that I have evening labs on Thursday that don't get over until 8:00. :( Drat. So everyone will have finished their finals by Thursday afternoon, while I'll still have labs. I've sent out an e-mail to see if anyone is leaving that late on Thursday or on Friday morning (the dorm closes at 10), so we'll see the responses I get.

The rain in Spain, must have escaped, and is no longer staying in the plain because the entire world's supply of rain seems to have found its way to Seattle!!!! Gosh dang it should not rain this much . . . Two days in a row is acceptable, three days in a row is unusual, but four days in a row is just pure ludicrisy!!!! I am very much looking forward to being back in Yakima for Christmas break where the winter weather consists of only three options: cloudy, not cloudy, and snow (where the majority of the days are the second option). ;)

Good news, people!! Ted is alive!!! :D I did not kill my fern through my gross neglect! I will have to bring him home for Christmas break, though. He may have survived Thanksgiving, but a month with no water would not be good.

And, as a closing note, my finals are next week. Gah . . .

The Frenzied Finaler (yes I made that word up, I've been known to do it before)

Comment Replies

I was thinking of just posting an additional comment in reply to all the other comments I've received on my last post, but some of these issues were just too big to be responded to in a comment-length paragraph. ;)

Number One: The ducklings picture has only been up since yesterday when the page that hosts the trillium picture I was using went on the fritz. As I have all the patience of a wet piece of bread waiting to mold inside a plastic bag, I changed it the moment I sensed even a hint of trouble. But the picture of the ducklings seems somehow more appropriate to the season (as trilliums bloom in early summer) and the setting (as ducks seem to imply rain, for whatever reason.) :D How very observant of Annie to notice so soon! ~Claps~

Number Two: Where is your tie, Kim?

And Number Three, and most disturbing of all: A hairless, starving panda?!? Fun to see?!?!?!?! Who are you and what have you done with my sweet, innocent Sally!?!?!?! ;) ~whimpers and clutches her precious panda emoticons close~

Now that that's over, on to the more bloggy stuff! Only three more classes until I go home!!! Lab tonight was fun. :D There were only eight of us total in the Monday lab section (moved from Thursday for obvious reasons) so the lab was really low-pressure and fun. :) Also, I hadn't actually already performed this lab in my A.P. biology class in highschool, so that was a plus. ;) I spent most of the lab spinning in circles on my stool and asking the biology professor funky questions like why the kernels on the end of the corn were less dimpled than the ones in the middle (he didn't actually answer that one) and what it is about naphthalene that drives away bugs (it interferes with their breathing like chlorine gas in WWI) etc. Those of you who know me well enough can picture how I behave when I'm in a perfectly relaxed environment. Kind of like I'll be on Saturday with the gang. ;) 'Cept that'll be a little more relaxed still. :D

And for those of you who are wondering, the new links over at the right are to the blogs of Emily Hoover and Steve Mast, one of Andy's room mates. :) I made them all by myself this time with no help from Laura! W00t! I'll graduate from EII! with D's yet! ;)

The Laughable Lyricist (I am a lyricist today because I have been singing songs such as Strong Bad's famous "Oh, if it's possessive it's just I-T-S! But if it's supposed to be a contraction then it's I-T-apostrophe-S! Scalawag!" :D)

EII!

Hello. My name is Bonnie and I'm a member of Electronics Icompentents International (EII! Spoken as a sound of utter despair by computer technicians across the world). I learned a valuable lesson the other day. Computers and magnets don't mix. Ever. Now, those more astute than myself may already be groaning at this statement, but rest assured, my laptop suffered no lasting ill effects. ;)

I had a very nice morning today. I was awake by ten, but I didn't leave my bed until after one. Why you ask? Because I was reading. :D It was so relaxing . . . I have not read in bed for a long time. Since last Thursday, at least. ;) Naw . . . I'm kidding. It's been longer than that. :)

Is it just me or does this font make winking smileys look very . . . feminine? I mean, look at it. ;) It appears ot have very long eyelashes. But I guess it doesn't really matter what the smileys look like. I use pandas on MSN for crying out loud, and I don't much resemble one. Except perhaps when I am tired enough to acquire those huge circles under my eyes. Then I suppose some hunter in China might mistake me for a giant panda from far enough away. The illusion would be even more enhanced if I were munching on a stick of celery. ;)

Yay! My health record mystery has been solved! I received, not .5 of a full dose, but 5 ccm! :D I'm good for the next seven years on tetnis! I can now puncture myself with metal worry-free! . . . is that really such a good thing?

Two more school days left!!! (No school on Tuesday for me)

Alas!

Alas, alack it has happened! I have not blogged in a week! Oh shame, shame on one who scoffed at others for not posting often enough! Woe! . . . Shame and woe! . . . Yeah . . . Anyway, apox upon me I'll try and post more often. ;)

SPU just recently put up their Christmas lights. Now, I know it's freakishly early to be putting up Christmas lights, but it just seems right, somehow! Most of the trees around campus have lost all their leaves and are now looking pretty bare and uninspiring. The twinkly white lights on the buildings around Tiffany Loop just make it so much more cheerful. :) Plus, Moyer is the only hall worthy of Christmas lights apparently, so nyah! :-P They were blocking our front door with a giant manlift as I came home from class one day. It took me awhile to figure out what was going on . . . I wish I had a digital camera so I could take pictures of the lights and upload them here on my blog. Maybe I can induce Laura to do so . . . Hmm . . .

I have a chemistry midterm on Monday. I feel a lot more confident going into this one than I did going into the first one. Unlike my latest biology midterm . . . yeah . . . Respiration has never been my strongpoint. Thankfully, Dr. Ridgway (the missing "e" always throws me off there . . .) allows us to make up a third of the points by doing a remedial assignment, so I should be okay and still hopefully get a good grade in the class.

I am also registering for my classes next quarter and I've been able to get into Biology 2102 (glee!) a bio lab on Thursday evening, a chem lab on Thursday evening, but here's the catch . . . I wasn't able to register for Chem 1212 . . . It would be interesting to be in a lab for no credit while I wasn't in a class that coincided with it . . . Anyway, I've e-mailed my professor about it, and I should be okay by tomorrow. Oh! And by the way parents, if you're wondering how I'm registering with a health record hold, Professor Peter was nice enough to take it off for me so I could register today. But we still need to figure out the tetnis shot thing!

Okay, I think that is a long enough post to satisfy my lack of posts for the last week. I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving! I'm wondering if I could hold off laundry for long enough to do it for free at home . . . probably not . . . ;) But maybe I'll just do one dark and light load this weekend and pack some stuff in a suitcase for takin' down to Yakima! A penny saved is a penny earned and laundry up here is stinkin' expensive! Oh well. :) I'll figure it out.

Coffee + 2 hours sleep = XP

My body is no longer on speaking terms with me. I've messed its biochemistry up too much. It all started with my overactive brain. Last night, I got about two hours of sleep. Not from lack of trying, trust me. I went to bed at 12:30. This would normally give me about eight hours of sleep. I believe I finally fell asleep around 6:30. Yeah. That's right. Two hours. Total. Needless to say I was a bit tired this morning, and slept through the first twenty minutes of my USEM. Why did I not get to sleep 'til 6:30 you ask? Well frankly, the answer is, I have absolutely no idea! My brain would just not shut-up for some odd reason! I was literally counting my breaths to try to get myself to stop thinking! I would be lying there counting, "26 . . . 27 . . . 28 . . . " when I would feel a thought starting. It wouldn't be an actual thought yet, just the beginnings of thinking, so I would stuff it down as hard as I could mentally and count as emphatically inside my head as I could, "29! . . . 30! . . . 31!" so I could try to keep my attention on the numbers alone and not other thoughts. Man, it was frustrating!

So this morning, I took the only possible sane course of action that I could, and got a grande white chocolate mocha from Academic Perks. Well, this actually turned out to be not such a good decision. My brain was sending out such strong signals of "Sleep now! Sleep now! Sleep now!" at the same time that the caffeine in the coffee was giving off signals of "Stay awake! Stay awake! Stay awake!" That my body freaked out. I was fidgety, moody, and just overall crazy. I was breathing so quickly I was practically hyperventilating. There were even a few tears squeezed out of my eyes. I felt like I was on drugs, and if you think about it, I guess I was. Caffiene is a legal addictive stimulant. ;) Now I have learned my lesson. Coffee is not a good idea on so little sleep.

Something cool happened today. :) I had just finished getting my mocha and was walking along the sidewalk on my way to class. Tiffany Loop is full of huge deciduous trees. While I was walking, a breeze came along at just the right speed and height from the ground that it was knocking yellow leaves from the trees in a steady flow that looked like rain. It just kept going and going until you felt that the trees must have dropped all the leaves they contained. It was so great. I just stood there for a few minutes holding my coffeee, enjoying the quiet spectacle in front of me. Even though I am still a stubborn summer baby, I have to admit fall is beautiful here at SPU.

And now for the boring stuff. The girl who trained me for my ILL job at the library will not be working next quarter because she will be doing an internship instead. This means that I have quickly become the senior afternoon ILL student, and will be training the new student next quarter. Yikes. I hope I do alright. Oh, and parents? I went to Marston to find out what the health record hold on my registration is, and they don't have a record of a tetnis shot for me within the last ten years. Now, as I've gone on a mission trip within the last ten years, I'm fairly certain I've had a tetnis shot in the last five years. So, if you could fax a copy of my immunization record to (206) 281-2674. I am not sure what they will need as far as information, so go ahead and go stir crazy and send my name, student ID number (990396893) (oooh . . . wavy numbers . . . ) and anything else you think might be useful. ;)

Sorry for the long hiatus. Heh. Long for me anyway. ;) Some people don't post for a week or two and think nothing of it. ~Cough cough! andyandaaron! Cough!~ And tell Adam I will be giving him his birthday present at Thanksgiving. I forgot I bought him one before I left and hid it behind my door . . .

Those Were Good Days . . . Good Days . . .

College is definitely a great environment. :) Right now there is a guy playing and singing "Sweet Home Alabama" on his acoustic guitar in our hallway. He started out by walking up and down our hall singing and playing "Johnny Be Good." He's very talented in both the singing and playing areas and he provides a nice backdrop for my writing. He played "The Day the Music Died" a while ago, and all I was hearing was the Weird Al Star Wars episode. There is currently a group of girls sitting around him singing along. :)

I had my biology lab tonight because Thursday is Veteran's Day. My chemistry class went in the opposite direction and all labs were cancelled for the week. I liked the biology lab tonight. It was on plants. I'm realizing more and more just how much I like plants. They are SOOOO awesome! I mean, they are the ultimate source of all our nutritional energy, they are some of the only organisms on the earth that make their own food, and they are just spiffy in general. Maybe I will become a botanist. :)

I am seriously enjoying that care package that you sent, Mom and Dad. :D I haven't had candy since I came to school! I'm so looking forward to Thanksgiving! I miss you all so much. Plus, the food is going to taste incredible!!! ;) I enjoyed having a home-cooked meal at Andy's apartment even if it was just spaghetti. I haven't figured out a ride yet, but I'm hoping to get a few more e-mails back.

I think tomorrow is going to have to be a very boring day. :-\ I have some serious laundry needs and my homework is building up (USEM research paper on nuclear reactor due the 12th!). So I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I'm also going to head over to Marston tomorrow to see what exactly the "health record" hold on my registration is. I certainly hope I'm not missing an immunization . . . :-
Oh, I had a great time at Andy's house, by the way. ;) We watched Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within or something like that . . . and Andy and I made spaghetti. I missed my bus on the way back, but Andy came to the rescue and called me a cab! It was pricey! :-\ But I have made him let me pay for half, so I feel better at least. ;)

Did you guys know that the first 100 Strong Bad e-mails are now out on DVD??!?! How awesome is that!?!??! Someone PLEEEEEAAASE buy me this for Christmas! ;) :D

Today is finally almost over!!!

This has been a strange day. There have been things on the extremely good end of the spectrum and things on the not so extremely good end of the spectrum. The good things are as follows: I finally picked up a package that my mom and dad sent awhile ago! Yay! I got my term paper done and I think I did pretty well on it! Yay! But the best thing about today isn't really something that happened persay . . . the best thing about today is that it's the last day before I visit Andy!!! Hooray!!!!! I'm goin' to be making spaghetti for all the boys (with a little hlep, of course) and we're going to have a great visit. My bus schedule is set and I'm ready to go! I think I've been ready since two weeks ago though . . .

The bad thing(s) that happened today were as follows (heh. I like it that I put the good things as "are" and the bad things as "were". Totally shows you my personality there . . . ): I pretty much flunked a chemistry quiz. No, I don't just think I did badly, I think I totally flunked. To begin with, math has never been a favorite of mine, but on top of that, I forgot to transfer my calculator from my lab bag to my school bag last night, so I was flying solo for the first fifteen minutes of the twenty minutes alloted for the quiz. Koh . . . So yeah, that'll be a bad grade. I'll have to get 100% on every quiz from now on to bring that score up . . . Plus, Sally was in an accident in Yakima the other day. She's okay as far as I know, but her car is totalled. I don't think you knew that yet, parents. Please pray for the Grahams and that they'll be able to find a new car for Sally.

I am getting up weeeery early tomorrow, and there was candy in the care package my parents sent me and I'm done with my research paper and I'm seeing Andy tomorrow so I am very tired!!!! By the way, thank you for the care package, parents!!! I thoroughly enjoy it already! :D

Singin' in the Rain

Sarcastic's Warning: Contact with this blog may cause spontaneous sarcasm eruptions. If you are a recovering sarcastic, do not read this entry!

I felt kinda crappy this morning, what with being sore and having a scratchy throat and an upset stomach (possibly just the results of a long weekend) so I intentionally slept through my USEM. I felt better after sleeping for a bit longer (I think I totalled about 13 hrs because I went to bed early last night.) So I attended my Chemistry and Biology classes. I'm going to ask Danielle at our meeting tomorrow what we did yesterday.

We watch some very low-tech, and therefore humorous videos in Biology whenever Dr. Ridgeway goes over a point that he thinks needs a bit more kinesthetic visual aid. So far we have had the "Pac Man" resembling polymerase (the enzyme that reassembles DNA for replication) that gobbled up nucleotides, a jerky visualization of myosin heads "walking" down actin filaments, and that brings me to the best one, which was also in the video about actin. The video was showing the myosin-actin structure individually, then the shot zoomed out and showed several pairs of myosin and actin working together in sync, and then zoomed out even more to show the myosin and actin in several cells working together to produce a contraction, and finally zoomed out so much that you could see the cells contracting through a little window cut-out in the finger. Then, the icing on the cake. A band-aid flies into the picture, and covers up the window showing the actin and myosin! The whole class just burst out laughing! It was so cheesy! :D

Christi and I twirled in Martin Squircle after dinner tonight. It was great fun. :) I had my umbrella, so I did Singing in the Rain impressions. It accidentally flipped inside-out and scared me so Christi and I were making umbrella CPR jokes on the way back to Moyer. There are many crazy "kindred spirits" here at SPU. :)

Lake Retreat

Hey Everybody!

I just woke up from a nap, so I think I'm finally ready to blog my weekend. :) Retreat was great. I had a lot of fun. We played some great games. One of my favorites was "Big Ape." It involves making motions that represent an animal. The motion I invented was for flamingo. You curl up one leg and tuck your arms up into wings. Some of the other highlights were koala (you hug your arms around yourself), Princess Tiger (rar! Don't ask me about the princess part, I don't understand it, you just put up your "claws"), and beached whale (involved a kind of flopping motion that resembled soulful dancing more than anything else. Head leads forward and body follows. Tim never could understand how to do the whale . . . )

A lot of the weekend was spent playing games, but there were also two fires at which I was constantly the loudest singer, an hour of paddle-boating on the lake with Sandra (we had a nice chat), and a very late-night game of Cranium, which I am determined to own someday. It's a very fun game which combines about six others including Charades, Pictionary, Trivial Pursuit, Name that Tune, and Candyland. The only things I did not enjoy this weekend were the cold and the Bucketball. I was almost constantly wearing my navy ear muff, my leather jacket, gloves, and a scarf. The rooms stayed warm though, because they were on the second floor, thank Heaven.

Bucketball on the other hand, really seemed to have no redeeming exceptions. I think I've grown into a person who really really doesn't like conflict. I haven't yelled in about two years. Anytime someone gets angry or upset it gets me worried and uptight because I just want everybody to get along. Bucketball resembles something of a group brawl. I couldn't watch for most of the game. Bucketball has only three rules: 1.) Don't touch the goalie, the chair the goalie is standing on, or the bucket the goalie is holding. 2.) If a bucket is made but the goalie falls off the chair or the bucket is touched, no score is counted. 3.) There are no more rules. People are tackling, grabbing, throwing and carrying each other. I would have been squished to a pulp if I had even considered entering one of the dog piles. I didn't really even enjoy watching the game because it just felt like waiting for an accident to happen (of which there were several during the game.) However, I didn't get wet like they had said we might, so hooray for that!

This Saturday I'm going to go and visit Andy. Hooray! I will have just turned in my biology term paper. It's a report on a journal article. Mine's on actin's role in cell division. :D So, it will be nice to have a relaxing day after just turning in a big project.

Blog? What's a Blog? I have homework . . .

School kind of sucks the will to blog out of you. At least, school at this point does. There is nothing amazing or funny going on. It's all just homework, tests, and labs. Hoo-way . . .

But, the Moyer Hall retreat is this weekend, and that's exciting! :) I'm just not looking forward to the wetness aspect of it. They've told us to bring as many changes of clothing as possible because we'll be getting wet so often. :-\ Geh. Wet, cold, and dirty. Sounds like a fun time to me. Maybe it will be a bonding experience. Nothing brings you closer to the girl next to you than a need to avoid hypothermia. ;)

My fern Ted isn't doing so well. I believe I may be killing him. I've been experimenting with giving him more or less light, and so far I think he's enjoyin' the more. Poor Ted . . . to have fallen into the hands of a girl with a brown thumb . . . apparently when it comes to ferns, anyway . . .

So . . . my room mate signed up for Roomies, and I didn't. Roomies is a getting-to-know-you type get together where each pair of "roomies" sets their room mate up on a date. She picks a guy for her room mate to go with (often with hints from her roomie) and then when the whole group is set-up and ready to go, the group "meets" the guy their room mate set them up with, and they go out and do something fun. This Roomies' activity is Jet City Improv. This sounds like fun, but I think I would be more than a little uncomfortable going on a "date" with a guy my room mate set me up with. It's supposed to be just friends but eh . . . I'm really not just comfortable with it. You can breathe again now, Andy. ;)

Tonight is Bible study, tomorrow is my USEM midterm. We leave for the trip a bit early.

All Better!

Holy moley my comp is flyin'! :D Dell Alerts was actually helpful for once! They sent me a patch that fixed my processing problem! Turns out, installing SP2 on a Dell Inspiron 1150 causes a few small problems, but the patch fixed it! I am so happy! I can watch Strong Bad e-mails on this computer now and listen to music while chatting online!!! :D w00t!

In other news, it's another lazy Tuesday. I don't have much to get done besides a library quiz, my labs for the week, and some copies. :) Then I have work tonight at the circ desk. Always exciting during my shift. ;) Go late-night studiers . . .

I have a pair of pliers I borrowed from one of the guys downstairs, but I have no idea who. I don't really know a lot of the guys and I didn't know the guy who lent me these, and now I don't remember who to return them to. What a conundrum. I'll probably end up just walking up and down their hall sticking my head in every room and asking? Did I borrow these pliers from you?

I watched the movie Timeline last night. It was alright, but I pretty much knew who was going to die from right off the bat. They did have some pretty cool pyrotechnic affects though. :)

Everyone makes fun of me for eating the mini pies they serve in Gwinn in little pie sections. I'm just not getting it. How else are you supposed to eat pie?!?! I don't care that you can fit the whole thing in your mouth at once! That's not how you eat pie!!!

Well, I am now going to turn my mind to mush by watching as many Strong Bad e-mails as I can before lunch. :) Hooray for a fast computer! :D

Excited about electronic advances,

Bonnie

Oopsie-Daisy

I set my alarm for 8:30 this morning. The shuttle for Bethany Community gets here at around 9:50. I woke up this morning at 8:20, afraid my alarm had failed to go off. I checked and it was still set and countin' down, so I decided to go back to sleep. My alarm then went off as planned, and I listened to people being interviewed on the street on which candidating they are voting for for President, and then I got sick of it and hit the snooze button. The snooze alarm went off several minutes later, and I turned off my alarm, ready to get up. I then proceeded to sleep until eleven, and miss church althogether. The moral of the story is: Don't turn off the alarm until you're actually out of bed. That's what snooze is for . . .

Anyway, so I'm kind of bummed about missing church. :-\ I feel like a bum. A very well-rested bum, but a bum none-the-less. The Moyer Retreat is this weekend. Hooray! I'm not really sure what to expect there, but after a late-night conversation with Moog, all I'm picturing are were-lodges. :D (They sprout giant chicken legs every full moon and run around "freeing" mailboxes by pulling them out of the ground and sticking them in chimneys.)

David and I have to try to finish our mouse trap flinger this afternoon. That's not going so well. It's really hard to know how well we're actually doing at flinging a ping-pong ball because our ping-pong ball has been permanently dented. That tends to have a negative effect on the flight of the ball . . . Also, I think we may have worn out our spring from testing it so much. :-\ Ah well. We shall see how it turns out.

With Snickers on Top

So today was lab day. That went just fine. Got everything in, done, and ready to finish. :) Labs are getting slightly better. Today our biology professor, Dr. Ridgeway, gave us a tour of the microscopy rooms of SPU's new science building. Totally awesome . . . I was practically drooling. :D Electron scanning microscopes, cryogenic sample preparation, and so much more!

I am going to attend the 9:00 Bible study for 2nd Moyer tonight. It ought to be good. I really like Sandra. She's leading it and she's a sweetheart. I am going to be working in the nursery at Bethany Community Church for my community service hours. :) So I guess that settles it, I'm attending Bethany Community. I don't think I'll do any more church hopping until next year, when I may actually have a mode of transportation for getting to church instead of relying on the shuttle.

The food in Gwinn was remarkably good today. :) I had fish and chips for lunch and a Caesar salad for dinner. Yummy! The fish was really, really good with either lemon or tartar sauce, and the Caesar salads had a short line when I went in, so that's always a plus. And, on top of all this, one of the dessert specials today was Rock 'n' Roll Brownies! These things are awesome! It's chocolate brownie with cream cheese frosting, Snickers crumbled on top, and chocolate sauce swizzled over it all. Yummy! :D It's definately my favorite dessert so far. Okay, now I'm just making myself hungry.

Now I am totally going to steal the sign off tip I gave to Kim.

Sunshine!!!!!

Sunshine! Sunshine!!! SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYEEEEEE!!!! ~pant, pant, pant~ YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYEEEEEEEE!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D It is sunny in Seattle today!! You guys have no idea how excited this makes me! I'm not cooooooold! There is actual sky today! Not that fake gray stuff! Liquid sunshine, my foot! Give me the real thing any day!

Tonight is also the night that the 2nd Moyer girls will be raiding the 1st Moyer boys, so I'm glad that it hasn't rained yet today. Line tag in wet grass would not be a good situation . . . There'd be more slippin' and slidin' than you'd see with ten jackrabbits in an ice rink!

Since I am disgustingly profficient at procrastinating, I did not end up doing laundry yesterday. Nor have I sent my dad his birthday card! Gah! In fact, I am not even sure where that went . . . exactly . . . um . . . yeah. Bad! Anyway, I'm going to have to do laundry tonight or wear my bathrobe to my labs tomorrow.

Tomorrow is always a day away. Perhaps that's why I never get anything done . . .

-Bonnie

P.S. I slid down the stair rails all the way from the library to Moyer today. :D It was great. They were not wet.

Another Wasted Tuesday

Dang guys, I really need to stop wasting my Tuesdays. It is just too tempting to sit around doing nothing. Ah well, I shall learn soon enough. But there's one thing I know I'm getting done today. Laundry. I am in desperate need of that. But, the dryers on the girls' floors aren't functioning very well at this point, so everyone has been telling me to go down and use the laundry room on the guys' floor. O_o Yeah . . . little weird . . . So, I think I'll take Emma down with me and just read next to the washer for awhile . . .

SPUD (SPU directory) pictures are being taken in the 1.5 (it's halfway between floors 1 and 2) lounge tonight. All the 2nd Moyer girls who want to participate are going to take their pictures with their little record door tags (Those of you who have not seen these door tags may be a little lost. They are just 45' records with our names written on them in silver ink. Our PA Ann is soooo creative. :D) That way it's pretty easy to pick out any girl who lives on 2nd Moyer. ;) We'll see how many of the girls join in. Maybe I'll wear my labcoat for my SPUD picture . . .

Alright, it is time to check my mail so I can see if my passport has arrived and my I9 can be turned in. Paperwork is so much fun . . .

Weekend Edition

I had an absolutely wonderful time with Annie and Andy this weekend. :-D I am thoroughly convinced that Annie would be the best room mate in the world. So hilarious! I am trying to get her to move in with Laura and I here at SPU, but so far, no luck. ;)

Annie and I went to some bookstores while she was here. There was a really cute cat in there whose name was Ophelia. She reminded me of my kitty . . . ~sniff, sniff~ :'( I miss Tiger . . . I was reading Harold and the Purple Crayon and Ophelia came and jumped in my lap. She then proceeded to kneed my stomach and rub her eyes on my book in that annoying, yet adorably endearing way. Ophelia is a thoroughly indoor cat (as she lives in the bookstore) and sucks on the end of her tail (it's true!).

Andy and I did something that was incredibly fun and informative. We played a game of question and answer. Basically, we took turns asking each other the most random questions we could think of. It was a blast and a great way just to talk about things in general or just things in specific. I have decided that this is going to be something I do with all my friends (by e-mail with some, of course). It is just too much fun. It's a little like one of Annie's questionnaires I suppose, only more live action! :-D I'm going to take all my friends here at SPU to a one-on-one lunch and play this game with them to get to know them better.

I have a biology test tomorrow. I am going to make sure to get plenty of sleep, eat breakfast, and probably drink coffee at lunch. :) I hope I do well on it.

Pray for me my friends . . . this next week's weather in Seattle: Rain every day but Wednesday. Koh . . .

I'm so psyched I'm going psycho!

Are you ready for this??? I don't think so!!! Annie visits in approximately six hours!!! w00t! I am sooooo excited! And you know what else?!? Andy visits in . . . a lot more hours because he's comin' on Sunday!!!! Annie is visiting Seattle with Gus, and on Sunday morning we're all going to go to Bethany Community church (where Davey Williams goes) and we're going to see how many West Siders we can fit into a church that isn't West Side! It'll be a new world record!

Today has been an incredibly icky day weather-wise. I haven't seen the sun all day and I am starting to doubt it's existence. By the time this winter is over, I will have become a heliophobic pasty-white creature that hisses and spits when it contacts light. Hmm . . . sounds a little like Gollum, aye?

So I still haven't sent my dad a birthday card. What kind of daughter am I? That's right! A bad one! It's still sitting on my desk, half-drawn. I WILL FINISH it tonight, stick a cute Disney sticker on it, and put it in the mailbox by tomorrow!!!

Okay, so now I am going to take out all the bobby pins I put in my hair this morning. It was curly today. Let's just say I got a little carried away with twisting it last night and well, one thing led to another . . . anyway.

I'm lookin' forward to Moyer Hall retreat (October 29-31) but I'll need a sleeping bag. Hint, hint parents. ;)

Complex

I should really write something about what's going on in my life here . . . yeah . . . I'll get right on that. ;) I have not been blogging recently. (Recently as in . . . today.) So, pull up a chair, er- I guess you're probably already sitting . . . and listen, er- read my tale. I never can get those intros right . . . dang blast it all . . .

So I've been doin' pretty good. Although today, I discovered I have a personality complex. Yes! That's what I said, a personality complex. My deep, philosophical musings brought me to this realization shortly after I had completed lunch in the cafeteria known as Gwinn. Yes, that's right, it's Gwinn with two n's. I know. Shocking. I had been lunching with my professor and three other students. Two of these students are apparently from the sub-species chattius talkaloticus because they they carried most of the conversation. Do not mistake me, it was very pleasant, I am just not used to listening for most of the course of a meal. Well, it was after this pleasant luncheon while I was sitting in class waiting for biology to begin that I began to notice I was exhibiting some strange behaviors. Yes, strange even for me. I was extremely fidgety. I mean extremely! I could not stop moving! On top of this, a scream seemed caught in my throat and it was doing it's darndest to escape me right as I sat there in the third row! Now, it was not a frustrated scream or a scared scream or even an annoyed or exasperated scream. Just a very loud scream. I suddnely felt this incredible urge simply to make a very loud noise. And then it hit me! I had not done enough talking! Being quiet all through lunch had driven me to the edge! So, I turned to my right and immediately struck up a conversation with my friend Christy, and all was well once again. But now I know my limits. I most obviously have a specific word quota that I am required to meet every day. I believe this may be the very root cause as to why I choose quiet/semi-quiet friends! I am a psychopath who chooses quiet persons as my companions so that I can hear my own voice!!! How crazy does that make me?!?!? Crazy as an armadillo wearing pants or crazy as Bill Nye the science guy flunking chemistry, 'cause that'd be just crazy!

What will I discover when I have lunch tomorrow with two girls (one of whom is one of the aforementioned chattius talkaloticus) and my USEM mentor??? That I have a problem with people who blink too much? That I obsess over toenails??? That I have multiple personalities based on the characters of Gilligan's Island?!?!?!! Aaaah! . . . Well, I suppose only time will tell. In the mean time, I sincerely hope I am not this weird when I wake up. I am thoroughly impressed with anyone who manages to scramble their way through that monster of a paragraph. ;) Bon voyage!

This Tuesday has been terrible and terrific at the same time. (Why can those two words have the same root and mean opposite things?) It's been terrific because I've done nothing, and it's been terrible because I've done nothing. I've lazed around all morning. Lucky for me, there's only one small assignment due tomorrow, but still!! Tuesdays are homework days! I have work at three, so I should be able to finish at least a little bit of homework before tomorrow.

I am also intending to do laundry fairly soon. I have filled up my hamper. Oh, by the way dad, I'm almost done drawing your card. :D It should be in the mail by tomorrow. Speaking of mail, I have to check my mailbox. And get quarters for laundry. And buy a three-ring binder. Dang. Theres's a lot to do before Thrusday.

Okay well, it's time to get some assignments done. I have labs that have to be finished by Thursday. Two labs a week doesn't seem like too much of a workload, it's just confusing trying to keep track of whose logbook requirements are whose. Grr . . . they seriously need to work out a standardized system . . . I keep having to check the syllabi. (heh . . . syllabi . . . )

Man! Okay, time to force myself to start my USEM homework. Th-th-th-th-th-that's all folks!

An Exception to the Suckiness of Monday

Blogging, blogging, over the network seas! Yo-ho! It is most definately a pirate-type day. I wish I could use my panda emoticons on this blog, because I have a very cute pirate version. :D I have no classes tomorrow which means it is a day of intermediate homework and relaxation. Tuesdays are definately one of my best days of the week. Weekends aren't usually too bad either. :)

Well, my throat is still a bit . . . sketchy, but it is feeling better than yesterday. :) Oh, and parents? I forgot . . . I already applied for a credit card and it'll be on it's way in the mail to you guys within ten days. (One of the items of mail you guys sent to me informed me of this.) So I have a credit card, but I will not use it for at least the first quarter. :)

I don't have much to post on because I am too excited to be coherent. Mondays are one of the best nights of the week for me (no class on Tuesday!) So, I will post later if anything of great portent arises. (Whoa, slipped into a little bit of weirdness there at the end . . . )

Stalking Me

Ever get the feeling that something is sneaking up on you? Like eyes are watching you? Like someone's there but you just can't see them?!?! Well I'm totally feeling that feeling, except not. There is a sickness sneaking up on me, not a person. A bacterium is stalking my throat. (Bacterium is the singular of bacteria, but I suppose that in order for me to be feeling any effects, there'd have to be quite a few bacteria . . . eh, give me a break, I'm tired.) The sickness is not yet bad, so the bacterium has not yet chosen to pounce, but I'm waiting for the moment it does. I'm hoping that moment never does come because Laura had a sore throat this morning as well and has felt fine since. That means the score is currently at Laura's immune system 1, Bonnie's immune system 0, bacteria, 1,000 throat cells burst and counting . . .

I think my fern Ted is going to be dead by the end of first quarter. I have been remembering to water him and he still has some of his new growth, but he has been dropping leaves. Maybe he's just throwing a tantrum.

I am going to go to bed early tonight. Hopefully by 9:30. I'm just going to have Laura print out my homwork, brush my teeth, wash my contacts, and roll into bed. Oh wait, I'm just going to have Laura print out my homework, not brush my teeth and wash my contacts like that sentence sounded like. Heh. Yeah, definately getting sick. I was getting emotional during a Discovery Channel special on Space Ship One. That's always a sign of me getting sick . . . semi-crying for no reason. I didn't actually cry because I yelled at myself for being weird, but it was a close call. And there wasn't even anything to cry about. I think I was just being emotional in general. I'm dangerous when I'm sick. Truly dangerous.

Goin' to class tomorrow-
Bonnie

Slow Day

Well, what started out as a slow day has remained a slow day. I'm going to have to do laundry tomorrow because the washers down here have lines to Tuskaloosa (And you know that has to be far away, since I don't even know where it is).

I have homework to do that I am trying to avoid. I am trying to avoid it because it is my arch enemy, busy work! My USEM is getting into a section on time management and responsibility and goal-making, which, although a very good thing to learn about, makes for some very boring and time-consuming homework. :-
I was planning on walking to the park today, but it is windy and cloudy and just generally yucky outside. :( Oh well. Maybe Sunday will be better, but Sunday is also going to be a day of homework, so the park may just have to be put off until next weekend or Tuesday.

I don't feel like going out tonight. I will probably try to get some of that homework I've been putting off done. I'll probably have something more interesting to talk about tomorrow. I'm going to try to catch the shuttle to Bethany Community Church. (Yay! Bethany!)

Bye!

My Umbrella Makes Me Feel Cool

My umbrella makes me feel cool. I don't have to run or hold my guitar over my head when it's raining like I've seen other people doing. :D

So I totally didn't pass a quiz that we had to get 8 out of 10 on because I supposedly spelled "cloric acid" incorrectly because I typed in "chloric acid" which is, in fact, the correct way to spell it. (I looked it up after the test.) Apparently, the night class chemistry professor who made this test doesn't know how to spell chemical formula names. This means that I got the question wrong because I was right. Grr . . . stupid online quizzes.

Anyway, I don't have much to tell. I have a rather large homework load for this weekend. :-\ Bummer. I hope to walk or ride my bike down to a park that's fairly close to SPU. For reconnoitering purposes, you know. I want to see if they have swings. :D

I was really struggling to stay awake in biology today. It was a review from chemistry two years ago. Now, I know most of this class will be review because I took A.P. biology, but I mean, come on! He keeps reiterating that he'll be speeding up the lecture soon, without actually gaining any velocity! Oh well. I guess we're just going more in depth this time. ;) We'll be going over in an entire year what we went over in two trimesters in West Valley.

I have discovered that Fred Meyer rip-off "generic" Cinnamon Toast Crunch is not a very good mimic of the actual Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It's fine, but it's nowhere near the yummy goodness of the real thing.

What I caught of Fusion was fun. :) I got out of my lab at 6:45 so I missed my floor's skit but I had seen them practice enough that that did not make me sad. The other ones I saw were pretty good though. :) The guys were typical guys with fish slapping and shirt ripping, and the girls were typical girls with dance routines and pink clothing. I missed the pirates and the vikings though (I saw some of them walking around in costume) and that was disappointing. The activities afterward were fun, if a little lukewarm, and the prayer walk was mostly taken seriously.

That's all folks!

Bonnie

Half-a-post

So I totally didn't post yesterday and I'm sure this grossly disappoints you all. ;) It was a very busy day. I got up at 8:30 and started homework. I was doing homework for the next six hours. It was great stuff. :-P I have never seen so many nomenclature problems before in my life! Which reminds me, I've got to take a quiz on nomenclature online, and I have work tonight, so I better do it now. I'll post later when there's nothing urgent pressing. :)

The Sheer Cuteness

I am headed out to buy two composition notebooks, the Everyday Writer (a book I didn't know I needed. Yes, another one.), goggles, and hopefully, that's it for the buying for awhile because I do not want to be completely broke before fall quarter is even halfway over.

I have yet to find a church that I think I will regularly attend. This Sunday was very nice, and I thoroughly enjoyed the worship, but I don't think it's the size of church I'm looking for. (It's very small.) I want to go to a church that has a nursery so that I can fulfill my community service hours. I hope I can figure out how to catch the Bethany Community shuttle by next Sunday. I want to check it out. A good pastor seems to be the hardest thing to find. A lot of these guys seem great. They're really nice and have a growing relationship in the Lord, but they're just . . . not teachers. :-\ I think I'm realizing just what a special leaders we have a West Side.

This is, quite possibly the cutest four panels of comic that I have ever beheld. Only those people capable of handling cuteness levels above 10,000 spm (squeals per minute) should risk viewing it. Oh, and it's pretty funny too. :D

Mad Librarian

My accomplishments are increasing! ;) Now, not only am I well on my way to becoming a mad scientist, I am also well on my way to becoming a professional librarian! My training tonight at ILL was from 3:30 to 7:00. Just a bit longer than I thought . . . but good nonetheless. I think the girl who was training me didn't quite know what to do with me at first, but toward the end of our session she found that I was capable of stapling, filing, etc. and so allowed me to participate in the training activitis. ;) I'm going back at 7:55 for my first session at the circulation desk. Overall, a lot longer night than I had anticipated, but not in a bad way. :)

It rained for the first time since I've been here . . . so depressing . . . :( But, on the bright side, I'll get to use my spiffy new umbrella on the way back. :D Yes, I'm a dork. I won't be getting back until 11:10 pm, but I'm on caffeine at the moment (part of a nutritious dinner) and won't have any problem staying awake. Wish me luck! Again!

I bought a book for my USEM today. I am disliking it already. It is a very boring book on engineering. It keeps saying things like "As an engineering student, you-" to which I reply in my head, "I am NOT an engineering student!!!" Anyway, I have classes again tomorrow and they'll all be lectures so I'll probably get some coffee in the morning or some such. Biology is easy to stay awake in, and chemistry is alright as long as I can hear the professor, and even my USEM is alright because my professor is funny and intelligent, but not much will keep you awake if you're working on four hours sleep. :) Well, my computer is telling me to update, update what I don't know but I'll take its advice anyway. I'm sure it knows better what it's doing than I do.

Just remember, "Portugal is Spain's Canada."

Mad Scientist

I am within inches of being formally recognized as a mad scientist. :D I have my lab coat!!! I've officially scared everyone on my floor by wearing my labcoat around for about 20 minutes. Laura took a picture of me with her digital camera and has promised to put it up on her blog, if you want to check it out by using the link to her page. ;) All I lack now are the uber-dorky goggles. You know, the plastic ones that leave those great raccon-like lines on your face where they press aournd your eyes? Yeah, those. I brought a pair of goggles with me from Hanford, but they are not "splash-proof" sadly enough. I left my hard hat in my cubicle sadly enough . . . :-
I did it! I actually sent a letter to Annie! Shock and awe! My roomie Laura went with me to the post office. She was mailing some leters too. Mine needed extra postage because it was a bit too heavy. :-/ :) And, being the dork I am, upon receiving the stamps I promptly exclaimed, "Oh! They're the lick kind!" and followed through with the necessary action. It was then that Laura piped up, "No they're not!" I had just observed by it's lack of stickiness that it was indeed, a sticker stamp and stated something intelligent along the lines of, "Oh, so it's not." Laura then proceeded to laugh quite heartily at me like the uber-geek I am. :) It was the influence of the lab coat I swear. ;) You're next on the letter list Moog!

I start my trainging for Inter-Library Loan in less than half-an-hour. :-\ I'm a bit nervous. I hope I do alright. I also received an e-mail from Shelley telling me she was desperate for someone to man the circualtion desk from 7:55 to 11:10 pm on Tuesday nights, so I'll be working there too.

Wish me luck!

Blob Blog! (Too bad my name's not Bob . . . )

My 90 second speech for USEM today was . . . interesting. I think I may have mistimed myself during my practices, but it worked out okay. I cut out some stuff on the fly and was only a few seconds over time. :) We also ran out of class time (we actually went a little bit over) so I guess we get an extension on choosing our term paper subjects for that class.

My room mate Laura cracks me up. :) I always end up flinging the teddy bears on my bed onto the floor in my sleep, so, Laura threatened to one day set him up in my chair at my laptop as if he were typing. Today, she followed through with that threat. It made me laugh out loud to see little Crockett (bad name, good bear) propped up at my desk when I got up this morning. Laura was at class, so I decided to further the prank. I took Crockett over to Laura's desk and set him up with Laura's phone to his ear and his paw to the phone. :D When I got back from my chemistry class, Laura had moved Crockett once again and this time, her stuffed dog had joined him. They were both wearing headphones that were "connected" to a walkman. When I observed this posture (the best one, I think) Laura was out yet agian, so I set the two stuffed animals up as if they were reading my chemistry book. :) A very goofy, very fun prank.

Fusion is this Thursday. It's an activity designed to "fuse" together floors. Each floor will do a skit and then participate in an activity. I won't be able to be in the skit because I have two evening labs that night, but luckily, I'll be able to take part in the activity. :) I think it'll be fun.

Laura and I now have a huge collection of magnetic words posted on our doorframe (We just learned that it was magnetic.) I have already had some fun with them. Some of my favorite words available for use are "blob", um . . . well, I actually don't remember any others because I
really only thought "blob" was a hilarious word to have in a magnetic word set. :D

Training tomorrow at 3:30 for ILL and a possiblity of hours at the circulation desk! We'll see if I take Shelley up on her kind offer . . . :-/

In closing,
Vivan las spaghettios!

I have discovered Aaron's blog!

Ha ha ha! In spite of his attempts to hide it, I have unearthed Aaron's blog! Mua ha ha ha! He now has a link over to the right underneath my profile along with all my other blogging friends thanks to my techie room mate Laura. ;)

Lunch time is coming up. They don't serve dinner on Sunday nights so it's gonna be a Spaghettios or eat-out type night for me. :)

I have now spread out into the vacuum left by Anita. My mail is on her desk and my purse is in her drawer. That's as far as I'm willing to go right now as we don't know if/when we will be acquiring a new room mate.

Mmmk! I can't think of anything new to say since my last post . . . I have blog links!

Sunday . . . mmmm . . . sundaes . . .

Hey everybody-

Today is Sunday and thus the last day to get homework done. I still have an experiment to perform and a 90 second presentation to finish. I swear I've learned more about Teflon than I ever wanted to know . . .

I've been going through the difficult task of selecting a topic for my invention term paper. (I've already decided not to do the other of option of an inventor because that's boring.) It's a tough choice. I can't decide between duct tape or crayons, the internet (not invented by Al Gore) or Jell-O, the microwave oven or the Pong video game, the remote control or the game Scrabble. I can't pick just one! These topics are like the ultimate Lay's potato chips of term paper subjects! Aaaaah! Well, that having been said I will probably pick none of those and go with something boring and sensical like . . . the assembly line. :-\ Ah well, such is life.

Church today will consist of an evening service at six at a church called West Side (What a coincidence!) It is Laura's brother's church and I'm looking forward to going. :)

Sooo . . . Aaron apparently has a blog now because his name shows up on comments. Aaron, now that you have one, you should update it and tell us all what the URL is! :D Join the group!

I don't have much more to say. I have been discovering more foods to avoid in the cafeteria, but none of them so far have brought to mind anything humorous. I think I may have temporarily broken my food humor, much to the delight of all. ;)

I have discovered something. Guys are generally better at Egyptian War than girls. I can beat any girl I've ever played, but guys are more difficult. The only person to ever beat me was a guy (The guy who taught me, in fact, unless you've beat me before Moog. I don't know, I can't remember. Have you?) I was playing in a two-girl two-guy game the other day, and the girl was the first person to get out, followed by the first guy who was soon back in again because of his disgustingly fast slapping skills, followed by the second guy who left the table and did not slap back in. So, it was me and this other guy and I was only getting slightly lower than every other slap. It was sad. We didn't finish the game because it was time for dinner, so we set our cards aside. Someone apparently came along and played a game while we were gone though, because the cards were in one pile when I came back. However, I think it would be fairly safe to say that I would have gotten my butt kicked by this guy.

I watched SNL last night and saw the presidential debate spoof. Two things were missing. Will Ferrel and the memory of the actual debate. (I didn't get to watch it because I was at class.) It was funny, but not as funny as it could have been if these two factors had been present.

Alright, it's time to start homeworking. As Laura would say, "ttfn!"

Pants on Fire . . .

Wow, okay, so I lied quite a bit last night. First off, everyone went to Alkai, not Enumclaw, and secondly, I only posted twice yesterday, not three times. So embarrassing . . .

So . . . Mt. St. Helens er, "burped" the other day. Very exciting. :) My room mate and I had to go downstairs to the lounge just to find a TV that we could watch it on. Everyone else was watching movies or TV stations not showing the eruption, that's how big of a deal this was to all these college students. ;)

I have so much to do I'm feeling overwhelmed. It is not good when I get overwhelmed. My first instinct is to give up doing anything rather than doing everything. A very bad thing especially when it comes to cleaning rooms (mine is still mostly organized, thank heaven).

I know everyone is excited about the return of the panda smileys to MSN messenger (not, unfortunately, to AIM), but there is something even more exciting. There is now a third copy cat to add to the list! Don't worry, I won't leave you in suspense by putting this revelation off to the last line of this blog, talking until the very end and just giving you the actual news as a side note, talking about trivial matters up until then, and driving you crazy. Nope. Definately won't do that.

It's Andy!

P.S. I have no way to post links permanently as of yet, so here's a temp address to Andy's blog: www.andyspeaks.blogspot.com :D

The Evening

Well, the original plan was for Laura and I to stay up until all hours of the evening tonight because Anita who was an early-retirer, (retiree?) isn't here anymore. But now, I'm not so sure that's going to happen. I was walking around the Seattle Center with a couple of friends from about 7:30 to 9:00, but then we came back so I could catch Andy's phone call. And everyone left for various activities ranging from the beach at Enumclaw? (not sure on location) to the mysterious "bonfire" that I have yet to learn a location for at around 10:00 while I was still on the phone with Andy. (Run-on sentence!) So now, sitting here in my dorm in the relative warmth and quiet with nothing to do, bed seems rather friendly. Ah well, I will see if I can hold out until Laura gets back.

I have much to do this weekend. Hopefully I will get it all done. I have to perform a scientific method "lab", purchase a book for my USEM, do the post-lab for my chemistry, pick a topic for my USEM term paper, bring my laptop down to the CIS help desk and see if they can give me a diagnostic, and work out my thirty minute speech on the article I read about Teflon. (I'm sure that's all in my Palm Pilot. Fairly certain anyway . . . )

I have now officially finished off my bag of Cheetos. It's amazing how many Cheetos one person can eat when that one person is in a dorm. Well, I suppose my roomies helped . . . :) But still . . .

I'll blog more when I have more to talk about. :) Like, tomorrow maybe. I think I may have blogged three times today! Woo-hoo! That has to be a new record. ;)

Goodnight,
Bonnie

Job!!!!!!!!!

I have a job!!!!!!!! It's with the inter-library loan service, and it's only nine hours for now, but Moog says that's a good amount of time and I can always get more hours later at the circulation desk. My job is taking care of the book orders that come in from other colleges like WSU or UW and taking them out of the packaging or downloading and printing them as the case may be, and getting them to the shelf for student pick-up. :) It has flexible hours and sounds like it'll be fun. I'm getting trained next Tuesday and probably starting next Wednesday. When the job goes into full swing I'll be working Monday, Wednesday, Friday in the late afternoon for three hours each day. I'm very glad I found a job. :D

We are having fun posting messages in our windows to the people who live in the room across the way. :) Our sign reading "Hey Michelle and Ashley" is a work of art, if I do say so myself. ;) There is already a quite lovely sign in their window saying "Hey Laura and Bonnie!" :D

Ice cream tonight in the lobby at seven. I am very excited about this. Especially since the cafeteria offers only the cheap substitute of ice cream, frozen yogurt. I have become convinced that frozen yogurt can really only be good when it is fruit-flavored, like actual yogurt is. ;)

Well, the job was pretty much the only news I had. I hope you read my blog soon parents, because I'm too lazy to write an e-mail! ;)

Labs

I attended my first two labs tonight. They were . . . fine. The one was a safety course and pre-term test to gauge the standing of the class (Hooray! Biology!). The other was the same safety course and a somehow chemistry-related math "experiment" that I totally recognized from my pre-calculus class in high school (Boo! Math!). The only thing is, even though I recognized the problems, I had no idea how to solve, or what the answer signified or why you would ever want to! Fortunately, I'm lab partners with Ashley, math star! :) So we got throught he "lab" quickly and were able to leave before eight.

So I still have no idea what to do about my computer because the tech guys were pretty much the opposite of helpful. I told them I was having difficutly running Ad Aware and so was worried about being infected with spyware. Their solution? Run Ad Aware to check for spyware. Gee! Thanks guys! I'm not sure whether or not I was being unclear, but I guess there must've been some miscommunication somewhere in there . . . And now, my computer's clock is slow. Um . . . is this just a rumor or is that not TOTALLY a sign of spyware? Yeah, so I may just have to recruit some random geek as Aaron suggested and get him/her to sit at my computer for at least an hour until it works like it did back home. ;)

I've got to get to bed because I'm going to be getting up early to help Anita take her stuff downstairs. She's decided to go back home and not attend SPU. :-\ Sad stuff. Anita is nice. I don't know if/when we'll get a new room mate. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

I have more things I need to spend money on! Hooray! So far the list of things I HAVE to buy for school consists of two composition notebooks, one lab coat, one pair of splash-proof goggles, one three-ring binder, and some pencils and pens would definately be nice as well.

Well, goodnight all. Until tomorrow.

Group

So, I went to an activity tonight called "Group." There are always tons of Christian-themed activities around campus because of the requirement for students to accumulate CFE (Christian Faith Exploration) hours that needs to be met every month. (There's also a required number of community service hours per quarter. Hellooooo nursery! :D) Anyway, Group was AWESOME! I enjoyed it so much! :D It was a great time of contemporary worship. I almost started mosh-hopping like Jon does on Sunday mornings. ;) It was especially refreshing after the dry worship service that we attended last Sunday. Well, not dry exactly, just . . . not very worshipful. :-
Anywho . . . there is "something" going on tonight at 10:45. It might just be a floor raid. (Where one floor "raids" another by running through the halls shouting "Raid!" until they get everyone out, then they all go out and do something fun.) I'm not sure what it is, but I am changing shoes. The last random activity we went on was ice blocking.

Well, I am going to see what comes with the 'morrow. I have two labs tomorrow, and they'll both consist of lab training. Oh, by the way, what do you guys think of the description? I'm thinking not . . . I don't really like how it looks.

Signing out,

Tech Correction

Yes Aaron. I did, indeed, mean 10.8 GB, not MB. I would be in serious trouble if I only had 10.8 MB. ;) The tech guys wrote me back this morning and didn't seem to say anything particularly useful, probably because of the fact that I mistakenly said that I had only 10.8 MB of disk space. I think I may have also mistated my processoring speed, but I'm not sure on that one. Oh well. I am most definately not technologically inclined. :)

Wow . . . we actually used the PRS units we were given in Chem 1211 today. I have to say, they are a lot of fun. You are not sure whether you are trying to change the channel on the projector or voting on Who Wants to be a Millionaire. That class feels very space-age.

I have not heard back from the library as of yet. I'm still hoping they'll have a job for me or it'll be Custodian Bonnie! That would not be pretty . . .

I will eventually need to reorganize my entire room in order to rescue it from the slightly organized chaos in which in currently resides. That's what happens when you're trying to unpack and repack your entire room in the space of a few hours. Installing two virus protection programs at the same time because you're not reading the directions on the installation page because you're trying to cram your sweaters into a drawer while reading your orientation schedule and delegating responsiblitlies to your parents, and struggling with the resulting problems also happens. :) I am the tech's worst nightmare, which is odd, because I am also the computer's worst enemy. You wouldn't think I could be both at the same time, but apparently, it's possible as evidenced by my existence.

Soon, stories of Teflon and scientific journals will begin to grace these pages. I have begun my school assignments. I have a 90 presentation on an article about the invention of Teflon due on Monday in my USEM. School is definitely winding up.

Well, I may post later tonight if anything either remarkable or hilarious happens today. As a side note, happy birthday Bethany! I know your birthday was yesterday, but I was not sure if you got my e-mail or not. (I was having trouble recalling your e-mail address.) I hope it was a great day.

The Food of SPU

The dining experience at SPU is quite varied and tasty in spite of being contained in one hall. (Take that WSU! :-P) However, I have decided, for the benefit of my readers, to compile a list of foods to avoid in the caf. Ahem!

#1. Tomato Soup. This normally benign entree is made surprisingly disgusting by the SPU cafeteria. It even beats out West Valley's water-based concoction which I despised. I believe the technique they employ is to dump the contents of a can of tomato paste (not tomato soup concentrate, tomato paste) into a large kettle of some sort with a surprisingly small amount of milk. What results is a thick, gloppy mess of . . . tomato paste. I have decided that there definitely must be some other ingredients in a can of condensed tomato soup besides tomato paste. I do not have a can to verify this hypothesis, but I believe I can safely assume myself to be correct, having tasted the difference. Perhaps a little bit of salt or some other such seasoning is in order . . .

#2. Chocolate Frozen Yogurt. As this is the western side of Washington, SPU has frozen yogurt, not ice cream. The problem with frozen yogurt is, no matter how hard you try, frozen yogurt is always going to taste like yogurt! The vanilla does an okay job of disguising this distinct flavor and is pleasantly speckled with vanilla bean spots. You wouldn't even notice you were eating yogurt until you're through at least twenty bites. The chocolate, however, is a different story. It is so yogurt-flavored that you can taste it from the first. It is an imposter that I cannot tolerate, and can only solve by buying my own supply of the real thing, which I intend to do very soon.

#3. Wild Rice Pilaf. While the name sounds intriguing, the substance itself is anything but. I was just remarking to my dinner companion that it tasted like plain oatmeal when I discovered that there were indeed oats contained in the mixture. I can only conclude that the SPU cafeteria head assumes that a diet directed at horses is appropriate for human consumption.

That's all for now, thank you for joining me for this episode of Cafeteria Critique. I hope to have opened your eyes to the dangers of the buffet, and given you a few items to steer clear of if you ever come for a visit. Depending on the response to this posting, there may or may not be another posting once I expand my knowledge of the dining choices here at SPU.

Okay, just in case anyone actually wanted to know anything actually relevent to my life . . .

My interview at the library went very well today. I may very likely have a position there. I hope . . .

(Dan, you like Catch Phrase now?!? That is awesome! :D)

Runescape is out of the picture at least until I receive a response from CIS. Then, it may or may not be permanently out of the picture.

For those interested, I have included a copy of the help e-mail I sent to CIS. Anyone who has any ideas can put in their two cents (or fifty dollars, as the case may be.)

Hey Guys-

I don't know if this is a continued result of the time my computer spent laboring under two virus protection programs at the same time or not, but it is running remarkably slowly. I have 10.8 MB free on my C drive, 256 total MB of RAM, and a 287 Mhz processor. I have a Dell Inspiron 1150 notebook that has only been online once before coming to SPU, and then only to the Microsoft website to in an attempt to update before coming to school.

I ran the same programs I'm having problems with on my room mate's computer and experienced a much faster processing speed on her machine. She does, however, have twice as much free disk space as I do. My CPU usage is way too high much of the time (often at 100%), and many programs are experiencing problems. I have already encountered one fatal error I have never before seen on this computer and had to perform a hard shutdown on my computer.

I have concluded that I could have lingering network problems due to the previously mentioned dual installation, a lack of sufficient disk space for the proper functioning of all programs and tasks, or I could possibly be infected with spyware. The last is especially possible as I have not yet been able to get Ad Aware to function correctly and perform a scan. I still have both my SP2 and Security Installation CDs if you think I should reinstall either. I would appreciate any feedback you can give me in regard to my situation. I am located in Room 207 on the second floor of Moyer Hall. My phone number is (206) 286-7125.
Thanks so much,
Bonnie

And finally, I am so long-winded I amaze myself. :) Thanks for reading guys. This is a fun way to share my life with you.

Education Never Ends

So today was the first day of classes. It was great. :D I like all of my professors and I think I'll enjoy the classes too. My chemistry class is totally teched-out. We have these little devices called "PRS Units" that we'll use to take attendence, answer questions in class, maybe even take a few electronic quizzes. :) They look like little remote controls with the numbers 0 through 9 and H and L buttons for high and low confidence in your answers. All the classes also participate in blackboard, which is basically just an online file sharing drive. I'm stoked about all my classes though, not just chemistry. Biology will be fun too, even if most of my class is pre-med. :)

Some other fun things happened today. Our floor decided to go to dinner as a group tonight. So, at six o'clock, we headed up to Gwinn Commons to eat. We were within 100 feet of the door when we spotted a huge group of guys coming down the stairs from the other way. Our two groups just stared at each other for about two seconds before all of us spontaneously broke into a run. It was a race to the cafeteria! :) We all got there at pretty much the same time even though the guys used the cheaters' cuts door, and we laughed for a good long time over our silliness. :)

Tonight at dinner, I believe I received the funniest fortune cookie of my entire life. It read, "You are heading for a land of sunshine and relaxation." It was just so completely wrong I couldn't help laughing. For one thing, I'm in Seattle, and the only sun comes in the form of "breaks." (I am convinced that the undue amount of sunshine we've been having is due either to a] the sun having followed me from Yakima, or b] a strange and unforseen meterological phenomenon having to do with the harvest moon tonight.) And for another thing, term just started! There will be no vacation! :)

It's hard getting used to calling my instructors "professors" instead of "teachers." It's even more strange to hear someone call them "doctor." One of my professors is named Lyle Peter. Not Peter Lyle, Lyle Peter. That one will be confusing . . . Dr. Peter.

P.S. Annie- I've changed my mind. No letter until I get at least a paragraph telling me how you're doing! I have not heard from you in so long! I want to hear your YVCC adventures!

Church Goin'

Well, I attended the church that is associated with SPU today. It was um . . . interesting. We decided that we were going to go to the 11:00 service. Big mistake. We arrived at the church, not knowing that the 11:00 service is the conservative service. We sat in those lovely pews, sang hymns with the organ, listened to a rather dry sermon, and left. I miss West Side. :-\ I'm hoping the church I want to attend, Bethany Community, will be better.

They are currently in the middle of painting Tiffany Loop. That's right, painting. Tiffany Loop is paved with tar that they somehow textured like bricks. Now, there is a crew of guys out there painting them red, to look like bricks. . . . See, now to me, that seems like a lot of extra work. Wouldn't it have been easier just to put in actual red bricks in the first place? Anyway, I'm glad to know that my tuition money is going to a good cause.

My roomie Anita has decided to stick it out for the quarter, even though she is determined to leave after that. The CIS guy will be up sometime soon (hopefully) to help with the serious network problems I caused myself by having two virus protection services installed at once. I got to play frisbee and meet two new kids, and it hasn't rained yet while I've been here! :D I'm expecting it's going to choose to rain on the first day of school. Just 'cause.

To Aaron and Kim, you guys r0XX0rs! And Annie r0XX0rs for spreading the word. :) If any of you are actually reading this blog, you're more dedicated than I am. ;) Thanks for checkin' it out guys. I hope school's goin' great. Send me a line at schilb@spu.edu to let me know how you're doing. :)

P.S. To Annie- I have lost your letter. It was on a nice flowery stationary too. It did not yet have a stamp on it, but it was in an envelope. I will write you another. I am sorry. :( (Having your own part of the message isn't so fun when the message brings bad news huh?)

Seattle Pacific

Hey guys!

I've finally gotten my computer up and running, if slowly. I am now officially in college. I have gone through convocation. ;) SPU is great. I am enjoying dorm life already.

I am listening to classical CDs on my headphones and typing this while my roomie Anita is sleeping. She says she's going to go back home after the first quarter at SPU. I guess she's homesick. :-\ I need to get to bed . . . but I was so excited that my computer was finally working!!! So I guess I'll keep this short. My computer is getting even slower. :-\ I miss all you guys! I'll write more when I am awake!

P.S. Annie- since you so enjoyed having your own section last time, maybe we will just have to make it a permanent feature. ;) Your letter did not get mailed before I left. :( I will locate the post office and send it as soon as possible.

Weirdness Level

Okay, okay. There are actually people I know reading this now so I guess that means I have to behave and be a little less weird and a little more talk-about-my-life-y. (As a matter of fact I do enjoy hyphens, thank you.) ;)

Well, I had a great weekend at WSU with Moog. We played Star Munchkin (2 to 1 me! ~gloat, gloat~), she showed me Runescape (I'm going to start a non-violent wood cutters' guild!), we attempted to go to WSU's ice cream shop called Ferdinand's (closed on weekends), we ate in the cafs (ooh . . . college-type word), and most of all, we talked. :) It was great just catching up. I managed to make Moog laugh at my silliness and she managed to make me giggle madly with her witty and sometimes sarcastic conversation. I won't be seeing her again until Thanksgiving. :( Sniff, sniff!

Alright, the e-mail to let everyone know about this blog goes out tonight. Or tomorrow . . . I am staying up late because this is one of the few nights between the end of my job and the beginning of school I have to do so. ;) Hurray! Tomorrow starts a day of fierce packing. Wish me luck!

P.S. For your eyes only Annie. Well, I guess other people can read it too . . . ;) I have a letter drafted that I will be sending you tomorrow. I have myself stocked up with stationary, stamps, glitter pens, and a knowledge of the general vicinity of the mail room. :) I'll be writin' ya!

XD Guess what?!?

Sqeeeeeeee! XD Guess what the people at my job did for me? :D They threw me a nice little surprise party. :) I don't really know any of them all that well, but they are so nice. I was the only intern out here at 100 N this summer. My dad wasn't at work today, so he couldn't come, and neither could Jay who I've been working with for most of the summer, but they invited my Uncle Brad. Tammy is so tricky . . . ;)

Nonetheless, (How does that count as one word? It's just three words smashed together . . . English can be a silly language at times.) I'm still glad to be done with work. I still don't know what to think about school, but I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it. I'm holdin' out for a position in the library. Please, oh please let there be some positions open!

I've been reading far too many web comics lately . . . that's what happens when you have this much free time at work . . . I don't really know how many I've started reading, but I know there have been several that I started reading, but couldn't continue reading because they were either too insulting or too crappy to merit it. I have a "three strikes" rule when it comes to webcomics. If it insults me three times in the first session of reading, it's out. That eliminates quite a few comics, let me tell you. Well, I guess the only real reason I posted was to let everyone know about the surprise party. :) So . . . that means I'm done.

Badge Free!!!!

Only one more day and I am free of the badge!!! Woo-hoo!! My job at Hanford will be over! It's been an okay summer job as far as summer jobs so, but I'm ready for it to be over. (For those of you who don't know, the Hanford site was the location where the plutonium for the Manhattan Project was made. I worked in the area next to the N Reactor and B and C Reactors).

There was a power outage today at the Hanford site. It lasted for about two hours and probably cost the U.S. government $15,000 in lost office work. Actually, I have no idea how much it cost, but it was pretty ridiculous. Some guy working an excavator at 100 N accidentally backed into a power line. He didn't break it, but he zapped the power when he touched it. Never has one so stupid done so much to annoy so many. ;)

You know what I've been realizing the past few days? Just how much liberals do actually annoy me. I thought I could handle it. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, you know, but now I don't know how much longer I can last without killing at least one liberal . . . I myself would be moderate but for a few social issues that swing me totally to the right. Abortion is one of them. I won't get started on my opinion on that subject because it would probably just end up in tears . . .

That was a pretty heavy topic, so now I'll talk about one that's slightly less serious. :) I absolutely love science. It is a topic where you never stop learning. I know people say that about a lot of subject matter, but with science it's actually true! There are always questions that need to be investigated. Perhaps that's why I like it the best. Unlike math, you can invent your own way to get to an answer and not be in trouble. Unlike English, there is one right answer and that's it. Unlike history, science is gaining vistas of things yet to come, not an overview of mostly useless facts. Yes, I know math is neccessary for everyday life and even my computer wouldn't run without it, but that does not lessen its sheer evil . . . Yes, I know English can also be a journey of discovery, but I like the definite answers science gives. Yes, I know history can be applied as a lesson for our futures, but science lays out a road map for the future. I like all these topics (well, maybe not math). I just love science the most! :D And believe it or not, I'm what many people would call a "fundamentalist" Christian. I believe in creation. "Fundamentalism" has taken on a negative connotation since Islam entered the scene of the U.S. public eye, but I take it as compliment whenever I'm accused of being a "fundamentalist". I believe every word of the Bible is true and the only way to heaven is Jesus. (Heh. C'mon guys, you knew it was only a matter of time before that found its way into this blog.) ;) Hmm . . . I guess that didn't end up being as light-hearted as I orginally intended . . .

Boo yah! Longest blog entry yet! And now it's time for bed. :) Signing out,
Bonnie

Lazy Tendencies

See? What did I tell you? No updates for a week and I just started. I'm tellin' you folks, I am a lazy bum. Not many people seem to be convinced of the fact yet, but I am.

My excitement for college is beginning to take on an edge of anxiety. I'm getting nervous. I'm not sure how I'll react to college. To use my favorite analogy, it's like I'm taking two chemicals of unknown properties (me and college) and just tossing 'em together in a beaker and shaking it as hard as I can. Who knows what will happen? I could explode when I go to college!!

I had a great visit to Redmond this past weekend. That's where my boyfriend Andy is going to school. He's attending a university that was started by Nintendo called Digipen Institute of Technology. It's a very small and exclusive school. He's one smart cookie if you couldn't already guess! ;)

I'm still hoping that a visit to my friend Margaret at Washington State University will happen this next weekend. It's my last weekend before I start college. Not to mention the fact that I still have her giant life-sized leopard stuffed in the back of my car! At least it's not in my room any more. That thing scared the pants off me more than once when I forgot that it was reclining regally at the foot of my bed.

I have yet to give any of my family or friends the heads-up that this is a way to keep tabs on my life but I suppose that's because it isn't really a steady flow of information yet. Maybe I'll be better about updating once I get into my dorm, but I doubt it.

Okay, now is the part where I gush all over the page. Thanks to my new roomie Laura for helping me out with her l33t c0mput3r 5k1llz. :D I still don't have a clue what's she's done, but she set up half my blog. :) She is an awesome girl and I look forward to a great year.

(Insert catchy sign-off phrase here. I'm gonna need some ideas . . . )

Work

I write this as I sit in my cubicle, basking in the flourescent mercury light and reveling in the excessive air conditioning. My summer job will be over in less than two weeks. I have been working out at the Hanford site. Well, if that's what you can call it. They seem to have hired me without actually having a position for me. At least I'm getting paid for it. I'm getting paid to write this right now actually . . .
Tomorrow I get to go make a presentation on a job I was part of out here earlier in the summer. On this job, I jotted down notes in a logbook as points were taken on a GPS unit. We counted tin cans. :) Eh, at least it kept me busy. And the day after that I will be going on a tour of the B reactor. (Yay!) The only thing that's a little disconserting is that they're letting me within 1000 feet of nuclear material. I don't know if that's such a good idea, but I'll trust that they know what they're doing. Maybe clumsiness evaporates when within 1000 feet of a deactivated reactor core, I dunno. I'm looking forward to the tour. I've heard the reactor is really neat. It's been turned into a sort of museum with all the old operating equipment left intact. There used to be regular tours that would come through before September 11th. Now, only the bigwigs and the occaisional group of employees get to go in.
I am now going to make a phone call. The first bit of work I've done all day. Wish me luck! ;)

First Entry (As boring as you would expect)

Well, here I am, starting a blog. Interesting of me, isn't it? :) I don't know if I'll actually post in it but Laura tells me it's a good way to keep in contact with family, so we'll see. It might just end up being an outlet for random stories and poems that I write.
I suppose I should tell you something of myself. That seems to be the proper thing to do now. :) My name is Bonnie Schilperoort. I live in Yakima, Washington. I am 19 years old. I start my freshman year at Seattle Pacific University this fall. I have an older sister Bethany(21) and a younger brother Adam (17). Bethany goes to school in California. I am of a sickeningly optimistic and bubbly temperment, and I can be rather naive at times. I love learning and having conversations about strange or obscure ideas or objects, and I am very dangerous when on caffeine. (I am at this very moment, which is probably one of the greatest contributors to my starting a blog.) I will tell more about myself if I ever continue to update this page. :)
